EVE "upgraded" yet?

Hey all.

I was thinking of joining the universe of EVE and help whipe out them pesky pirates.

But I have a question. I remember reading on a E3 last year that CCP was going to upgrade the EVE Online engine adding massive visual effects and ship detail.

Has this happened yet?

    Mid september.

    No the graphics upgrade is not comming in september, last word was this:

    Kali Three Release - April 2007

    Our final graphics engine upgrades and a similar feature set to Kali One.
    ...
    Note, also, that EVE Classic graphics engine upgrades might be released earlier than Kali Three.

    Also you will need graphics card that supports DX10 to actually see the new effects.

    They are upgrading the old graphics engine with the new effects as well. The new engine will just be prettier and will offer better graphical options for future additions. The old engine will still be around and maintained for a few years until it is phased out.

    yes there will be a Vista client with all the extras that can be done with Direct X 10 and a Non-Vista client for all of us that don't have access to Vista. the only difference will that the Vista client will have more higher end options for graphics than the "other" client.

    A lot of EVE players are holding off upgrades until Vista and Kali are out and stable - I know I am :)

    Yeah CCP said in thier trinity engine preview that they doubt that the Vista version of the client will be used in any serious ways till about a year after vista comes out as we all wait for the bugs to get ironed out.
