I always wanted to see an MMORPG that your char grows up in the wrold that he lives in. Like you start out about 12 years and when you gain some levels your char get older with the level. I think that would be really cool. The max age should be 30 or something like that. Well what do you think agout this?

it lookz good on paper and all but there's just too many things about it that would annoy the hell outa me...
i really hate level cap's too so that wouldnt work for me
--------------------------------------
I didn't mean a lv cap.
I meant this:
level 1-5 age 12
level 6-8 age 13
level 8-10 age 14
level 11-12 age 15
and so on (somthing like that)

I suppose we will see this in the future, it would be an evolutionary step in MMORPG:s.
But why just start at the age of 12 with your in-game character? It would be weird if the world was just populatet by 12-years. I say it much better to choose a starting age and the you start aging through out the game.
...Because any 12 year old would get slaughtered by any fcking monster in that world. And a MMORPG which restricts you to only Fishing the first months of the game, well, that MMORPG would suck.
Heh
Hey its not real life here, its only a game. If a 12 year old wants to fight monster then they can. I think the Ageing would be a cool idea, but there shouldn't be a lvl cap or a age cap. Make it were you play so long that your charter could have a chance dieng of old age, but you would have to be really high LvL though.
LvL 100 =

This idea is a detail in a MMORPG.
But this is a SWEET nice little detail, and you stop at the summum age for any race!
Alternatively, you can offer for players to grow even older (40ish, 50ish and so on), to see graphics changes, but get both benefits and flaws from been older(nice for tradeskillers I think). But past the ultimate age where the toon decline in physical prowess, each further step should be taken willingly by a player and it should be explained very well. A player that focus mostly on tradeskilling can still group after aging to level 50...just think over it, it is on a willing desire. Maybe the youngest age is more regen, while a little older, like 30, is far less regen, but more pure raw physical power, 40ish can have more mana oriented edge...and maybe pure intel casters would want as well age of 50+, maybe some spells can be for elderly only to be able to understand all the sides of those spells need years of studies. Anyway, as long as the player have the choice and that it can be reversed and it not permanent, yet, must not be easy to change, must take RL time for each step change and it need some work on it as well...younger might level faster as well...
Anyway, this is a detail, as long as it add options to players and not restrictions...
I would not like to see all intel caster 50+, but I would certainly appreciated that most of them are!
Age difference should be trivial and more a roleplaying thing, but should still be there...hehe yes yes, old tank gnome if funny to behold, but what the heck! We wantto encourage logical choices with tiny little edge, we dont want to prevent funny roleplaying choices althought we dont need to encourage them at all, if they have to exist for someone to make fun, they will, do not encourage it please, the servers are already flooded with gnomes tanks, I see many elderly tanks and have nothing against it hehe, just dont encourage them!

Max age 30? What, are we stuck in Lord of the Flies or something? You trying to make Logan's Run a MMOG?
IDK if age would really be a good thing in a game, but being able to pick the age you would be throughout the game and your size and certain abilities would pertain to your age would definitely be a breakthrough in MMO's. For example, a 12 year old kid is gonna be able to run faster than a 50+ year old man, so as a kid you'd be able to escape enemies more easily, although a 50+ year old man would have more experience with monsters, and the man would know the behavior of a monster and be able to avoid or get by without aggro'ing the enemy. See what im saying, the old man knows more about the animal and therefore would be less susceptible to aggro. The way you're laying out a game is like Fable where you grow in the game. You actually take scars and physical damages from hits in Fable, which is pretty cool, but in an MMO, everyone would look so incredibly scarred that an age's appearance wouldnt matter, lol.

"Pain is the best instructor, yet no one wants to go to his class?"
I read about some nice ideas that fans of MEO posted on the official boards about player aging. The general idea I got out of reading the posts was about a character starting young, gaining skills and developing in to a unique class of his own. As the character ages, he passes on some traits to his younger generation. So after the character has become too old, or reached a maximum level, a new character can be created with attributes, skills, and many similar traits of the former, elder character. This was a great idea in my opinion, at least it would be something fresh and new, which is what I am looking for in the next generation MMORPGs.
P.S. If any of you have an Xbox and what to try a game where your character ages, try Fable when it is released in a few months. From what I read there is character growth and aging, and you actually begin the game as a little boy. Fans of Peter Molyneux know what I am talkin about, anyway it is not a MMORPG, but it is an RPG still worth checking out if you own an Xbox.
I read all your posts. I liked most of all you ideas. What I wanted to point out what that your char ages as in looks. See when ever you gain a level your Str, Int, Agi, Dex and so on gets higher. But what looks different? NOTHING. I played Breath Of Fire 1-4 playing 5 now. Ryu starts out at a young age. In one (i think its 3) he is 8 for the first 10 hours of the game. I just what to see a char grow up in a world. You know when you first play a MMORPG you can't leave the newbie area. That is like your mom telling you don't leave the block. When your Level get higher your age grows to some age cap (not a level cap) (well all games has a level cap a somepoint) I just what to see something new in a MMORPG.
Thank You.
