Hard to believe, but I think they've made it WORSE

Backstory:  OK, so I'm one of the people who preordered this game eons ago, got the "10 day head start" (which was really only 5 days because they didn't bother to tell everyone they were shutting the servers down a week before launch, so I timed when to use my key wrong), maxed out during that period where head start players could play without cracking the game open...and returned the game unopened immediately AFTER that time expired cause I had literally done everything.  Some may recall my railing against this game even back then.

Fast forward to today.  I see a 7 day free trial for DDO and figure what the hell, I'll see what they've done with the place.  I didn't even make it a day this time.  I didn't think it possible, but I think they've actually made the game WORSE since that mass exodus at the start.  There are new bugs (I could not for the life of me keep the quest list in the upper right hand of the screen transparent.  It kept going opaque), there's a new playable race--but you can't play it until you get so far in the game.  How far that is on a "completion percentage" scale, I don't know.  They "added" solo content that isn't.  All it is is the same quests dumbed down with easier and fewer monsters (yankyankyank).  I can only imagine they did this because the game hasn't taken off, the servers are still pretty small in terms of people, and finding a group has to be exponentially more difficult than it used to be at launch.  They've cut back on server bandwidth, as the game is choppier and less responsive than it used to be.  It also appears as though there's less music (though this could just be my imagination).  I saw a couple new quests, but nothing substansive.  One positive thing is I noticed they moved some of the old quests to outdoor questors instead of in the inns (I saw a warehouse quest near the trainers in the starter city that I believe used to be given at the Lobster, for example).   I notice that now there's not nearly as much loot--most of the boss mobs I killed didn't give me anything now.  The memory leak in the game is even worse now than before; forgot about how when you quit the game your PC was basically useless for 10 minutes after or until you rebooted (though again, this could be my imagination of it being worse).

This game limped out of the gate and just never got up to a walk, let alone a run.  It's downright tragic what they've done to the franchise.  I see they have an expansion coming out in September (according to the load screens).  Knowing Turbine, they'll pull the plug on this thing right after it comes out and they've sold as many copies as they can (see AC2).  Why oh why did LotR get awarded to Turbine to do?  Ugh.

All I can say is thank God Stargate Worlds and Star Trek Online were given to better companies.

While I see no way you "literlly" did everything in DDO within five days, and there is no way to make me think other wise, I agree overall with your thoughts.  I played from beta and 6 months after release.  Made it to 9 level with my main, level 6 with an alt, and had a couple others around level 4.  If you weren't a fighter, cleric, or wizard in the high levels you couldn't find a group, and there was absolutely nothing else to do.  No crafting, no soloing, nothing.  The interface was good.  The combat engine was great.  Graphics were lacking.  The quests and dungeons were the biggest let down.  All the same and required you to repeat them over and over again, which is something they promised would not happen.  I'm afraid Turbine took a wonderful opportunity and blew it.  It really is a shame.
