i am thinking of going blaster but i havent got the game yet i will get it in a couple of days can i only choose 1 of the primary and 1 of the secondary if so what do u suggest?
First question is easy to answer - yes you can only choose 1 primary and 1 secondary power set.
Second question as to which one to suggest - that's complicated. Advice posted in response to other threads you've started - but check out player guides. Several sites host a bunch of them. This is just one site (http://coh.coldfront.net/index.php/content/section/3/32/). You can google up some others.
One of the great things about CoH is the different powersets, which used in different combinations can make for very different styles of gameplay. Just to give a few examples, fire blasters are all damage; ice blasters get a slow effect on their attacks and a hold attack; force blasters get a knockback on their attacks; electricity get an endurance drain on their attacks.
Those secondary effects can be put to good use. For example the knockback effect that force blasters get can keep mobs knocked off their feet most of the time so they don't get much chance to attack you. Downside is when teaming, team members may loathe you for constantly knocking mobs all over the place.
Personally I always liked the ice and fire blaster sets - but that's a matter of personal preference rather than an indication they're better than other sets. Read the guides and pick sets that appeal to you.

Oh give the poor guy a break. Hasn't he said in one of these threads that he's ordered the game but won't have it for a while yet?
I remember how excited I was when I mail ordered CoH, practically drooling in anticipation of playing, hitting the forums hard and reading everything I could about it online. Was only my second mmo and it looked soooooo much cooler than AO.
The advice of trying every archetype is good though. Gaining the first 6-10 levels doesn't take so long and should give you a good idea of what type of toon you want to play long-term.

That is a good idea they all play different. My favorite was Energy/Energy when it first came out because of the knockback effect but I found other sets have just as much going on for them but in a different way.

picture what kind of super hero you want to play. don't necessarily tell yourself "i want a blaster", just sit there, maybe jot down some notes, form a picture in your mind.... think about the things you want your hero to do... i want him to be able to fly with his jet packs, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and he's got these mutant ice powers, but he's a mercenary with all these gadgets....
or whatever your character concept/idea is...
then just start looking thru the powersets and it'll present itself. sometimes that blaster you wanted is actually a defender/offender or even a blapper.
shoot, throw out some ideas on a forum about what kind of hero you want to create, and i bet there will be a couple of ideas on HOW to build it.
good luck with whatever you create!
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

Which FF Character Are You?
My 1st 50-Blaster was Ice/Ice. Not the most powerful powerset, but very fun to play.
With a little tweaking, I think he'd be very viable in PvP.

Assault is very good.
You won't have the big badaboom however, that some peoples want (an area around the target go boom, destroying everything in it, like Nova).
But assault is definitely good, lot of damage. You will be a boss slayer! Very good in PvP as well.

2 things to consider with assult:
leathal is resisted alot in the late game
tho your to hit will be sick, your single target DPS will be lower than other sets
enjoy your time in DA tho...(i think BP are vuln to both fire and leathal
