Hi all. Just wanted to say I'm a Warhammer tabletop player who at first was skeptical about Warhammer Online becoming a WOW clone.
A 30-minute demo at last weekend's Penny Arcade Expo convinced me otherwise.
The graphics are far more detailed than WOW; there's plenty of customization both in terms of looks and skills; interesting combat system with morale factored in; group quests which everyone in a given area can do; world PVP where you can take control of zones by capturing objectives; various ways to gain cool gear without having to do mindless raiding.
In other words, I left PAX feeling like I saw the game that WOW should have been.
Oh, and if you're a Warhammer fan like me you'll appreciate the little flavor touches Mythic has added. For example how all the orc skills are named things like "grow bigga" or "kill stunty." I finally felt like a REAL green skin - ready to bury my axe in some stunty's head for the glory of Gorka & Morka, not go on some stupid vision quest for Warchief Thrall.
My only complaint is the world didn't truly seem dark enough to be classic Warhammer. I would have preferred a more mature setting similar to what's coming out in Age of Conan, but then again even the tabletop game has become far more all ages friendly so I really couldn't expect an old school Realms of Chaos feel.
So for what it's worth WAR looks great and I look forward to hanging out in this forum.

the fact mythic made it alone gives me confidence in the pvp system.
Insider scoop given to us here on mmorpg.com forum last year was that it will have a very similar system to DAoC RvR and of course now we know this is entirely gonna happen.
So yes based purely on that it already has my money for sure.I don't care if it looks better then WoW as long as it has an ok PvE and adapts the DAoC system of RvR is all i need to know!
I'm probably one of the few who tried WoW and hated it. I don't know, I
made a character and I realized he is useless in game terms. Every
character has no purpose in the game and that iritates me. I got my
hands on the game both at Origins and Gen Con and I was impressed. I
felt that the character I was using (despite the fact it was a demo
character) he had a purpose for being there. I love the idea of public
missions its really cool. And the visuals are fantasic. The orks look
like what they should be (and going to be in 7th Edition). I think this
will be a really good game to play when it gets launched.
I'm still a little bummed about Gobbos not being able to be melee classes, but maybe that'll change. I'll probably try a Squig Herder alt in any case, they sound wacky. As far as tabletop stuff goes, my first loyalty was always Chaos, from WHFB to Mordheim, but I have a soft spot for the greenskins.

It won't be perfect but it sounds like it will be pretty good and pretty reasonable.
