Any ship can be used to take out another in eve it just depends on experience and teamwork im betting one ibis had a warp scrambler fitted with a ecm mod while the other was fitted with just ecm mods. with these mods as most people dont use warp stabs you only need one to stop his ferox from running and the ecm stuff properly staggered would stiop him from targeting you most of the time.
As for the ferox killing them it depends on what he was using with heavy missikles it could be possable to kill a ibis with good skills in missiles. Or he could be using medium railguns with very few gunnery skills to increase accuracy. It does sound like lack of suplimentry wepon skills had something to do with this.
Point tho is it is possable to kill most ships with just 2 rookie ships such as ibises.

How in the world two ibis's could manage to kill your ferox is beyond me.
