A hopeful tester...
Hey, I was wondering about something, so I'm going to post it here and hope people can let me down gently if the idea is horrendously stupid:
A lot of people have received the acceptance letter for beta, and all they are waiting on are the CDs to start playing. Why not ask someone who already has the CDs to send the files to the other testers waiting via e-mail so they can upload them? It would only be helpful to the people accepted with beta passwords and e-mails, so you wouldn't have to worry about letting the wrong people get in the game.
I don't know if the beta CDs contain any personal information (i.e. passwords, usernames, etc.), but I do know that the NDA does not prohibit the exchange of information between beta testers. I figure it would make Nevrax's job easier by getting testers in sooner and fixing bugs earlier, while obviously making the testers MUCH more happy by getting in a week early. 
Everybody wins! All we need are for those fortunate beta testers to help out their less fortunate brethren! By the way, my e-mail is booseye@aol.com for anyone who wants to make me the happiest gamer in the world and send me the CD files. 
If not, I totally understand, as long as you have a reason besides "Well, I had to wait, so you should, too!" Imagine if someone helped you out like this? Well, now is your chance to give a little back to the world!

I had that same feeling in mind, but I doubt they'd object.
Regardless, I sent an e-mail with the idea to vince@nevrax.com.
Another idea that came to me now was to ask one of the many beta testers post the idea in the beta forums. The developers are likely to read those more, and you would get a more immediate response.

good idea but what if some hackers will obtain the CD, that obviously won't be good for the game.

1. Not too many hackers interested in a Ryzom beta CD.
2. Even if they were interested, they couldn't do much without the account information sent out by Nevrax. Just install the game and stare at their desktop in blind satisfaction.
I hope me listing the reasons why that shouldn't be a problem didn't come off as rude or sarcastic. Listing is just easy for me to remember all the reasons I had. Hehe.

Sir-anima, there isn't a problem with waiting (and we are probably going to end up waiting), but there isn't any harm in asking the community if they'd like to help out. If I thought it would be a hassle for the existing testers or the developers, I wouldn't have brought it up.
You are already in beta, so congratulations! But if you could refrain from discouraging the idea, it would be appreciated.

yeah they did same thing in previous games I've beta tested but not in here. btw it's my first french game I'm beta testing so maybe there is an acception.

I feel kind of sorry that i can't play now because we are having a week vacation or at least a few days (no vacation on university
) so i could have had a lot of hours to start testing but beta will be at least a month so lots of time yet to test/play it.

I just threw the idea out to you guys for review. Hopefully, a beta tester will post the idea on the beta forums to get a developer's attention, or Vince will actually respond to me within the century.
