Phantasy Star Universe.

Is anyone here getting or interested in PSU?
I used to play PSO on DreamCast back in the day,
Now PSU is comming out on PC and I cant wait.
I know its not considered a full MMORPG but I saw its listed here so.
Also is there any old PSO players here?

If anyone doesnt know about the game series,
Its a Si-Fi game mixed with some Fantasy elements like magic.
The game has big citys that act as lobbies and can hold loads of people
houses, shops and more.
You then go into instanced areas with up too 6 players.

There are 3 planets and many citys, there are 4 Races to choose from
Human, Newman (like Elf), Cast (Andriods) or Beast (Beastmen)
The battle system is real time with combos.
At first there are 4 classes which you can add points too as you level up
you can add points to all 3 or just one, then when you hit level 20
there is a choice of 7 classes that you choose to stick with.

The character creation is very good, on par with CoF/V Id say,
you can buy new cloths from shops online, and stuff to kit out your room.

P.S Sorry about any bad spelling. =x

I think PSU looks great. It's really my style. I hope it isn't a 'monthly payment' game...

If it appears on gamers hell or fileplanet and its in a beta ill probably try it, though they havnt pulled it off well before in previous games...

I think it's the objective of your past self to make you cringe.

Unfortunitly PSU does have a monthly fee but I have heard its much lower then the usual,
    I think its about 8 pounds/dollars.
But there is much much more too PSU then there was to PSO
includeing new story based missions added every 2 weeks that follow on
from the offline story but you play them online with others.
    Which sounds like a blast.

I just read on PSO world that there is already 100k players online in the 3 days its been out
and thats only in japan. Thats pretty good for a game thats not quite an MMO and is very querky.
apparently SEGA didnt expect nearly this many and need to add more serves (they already have 40)

It has an offline mode, but to play online a monthly payment will be necessary. Offline characters can only be used offline and online only online.

When PSO went from free online to a monthly fee it lost a lot of its charm to me. It is a fun arcade style game, but lacks a lot of depth. It is the type of game you can mindlessly have fun and play with anyone at anytime, but content wise a monthly fee isn't appropriate.

PSU seems to suffer similarly so far. I will definatley be buying the game for offline mode, but unless it has a much lower than average monthly fee I doubt I will play online. $10-$15 a month for a clumsy chat room is not worth it IMO.

I heard about the Recall, what a shame, Well at least there taking it deadly serious this time,
SEGA/ST really were never cut out for PSO to become so big they had no online game experience before
PSO and only expected it to last 3 months, It lasted almost 7 years this far. lol.

Better to happen now I guess rather than 6 months down the road...still, I'm glad I decided not to import a copy

Lets hope they fix these issues by the time NA/EU servers go live.

Man PSO on the dreamcast brings back a lot of fun memories for me. I know I will be trying it, if only for nostalgic sake, and the new features and graphics look nice also.

PSO was a fantastic game back in the day.  In fact, it was my first foray into the world of online gaming and was really what got me into MMORPG's.  I have alot of fond memories of that game.  I played almost every night for six months.

However, I'm really, really tired of anime style games.  I don't begrudge anyone who is into this type of stuff but for me, the second I see oversize, phalic swords and metrosexual teenagers in some overly melodramatic saga to save the world, I am instantly turned off.  So no, I probably won't be playing PSU.
