I'm just curious about something, I've done alot of searches on the net regarding FFXI on PS3 and so far the best thing I've found is S-E simply stating that they're not sure if they want to put FFXI on PS3 or not because it would require starting from scratch to make the game PS3 compatable. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/finalfantasy11/news.html?sid=6147946 That's understandable because who would want to devote so many resources to a project that probably wouldn't generate enough revenue to be worth it. Here is what I don't understand and I hope someone can explain it for me so I don't get my hopes up, or confirm it so I have something to look forward to: Why wouldn't the PS3 just read it like any other PS2 disc that is backwards compatable, Launch the installer, install the game on the already included HDD, then launch the Playonline viewer like the PS2 did. Why would that be so difficult? From there you just go to "Install a new game" from the Playonline viewer and install games and expansion. Help me out! I'm really curious because my PS2 broke and I don't have plans to get a better PC anytime soon. I have a 72WHM on Shiva server and I was looking forward to getting 75 and doing alot of the end game stuff. |

Q: Are there any plans for Final Fantasy XI development for the PlayStation 3?
A: Right now, we still don’t know what type of machine the PS3 is, so
we are waiting on Sony to finalize the hardware before we can make that
decision.
