Why is the NDA so strict

I dont get why the NDA for this game is so strict, you cant even say my sister played the game and liked it, thats pretty stupid, I think that beta testers should be able to tell what the games about and how it is so people know to buy it or not.

No, no it's not. It prevents alot of problems for it to be this strict. A Non Discolsure Agreement exists for a reason. It protects all party's involved.

This NDA isn't any more strict than any other NDA, its there for a reason, so the game can be tested without information and stuff being leaked, even though theres been a few slip ups its doing quite well the client hasnt been leaked or anything yet.

A beta testers function is just that, beta testing.

Marketing, even to friends, should to be left to the developers -- and even that is only when the NDA is lifted.

The game is not finished during beta testing. Some of the graphics may be missing, the game play might be different before release. If there wasn't a strict NDA people would say, "zomg teh game sux", but they wouldn't be seeing the final product. While you could argue that they don't want their game design secrets revealed for other companies to borrow it, I think the negative word of mouth from people talking about an unfinished game is the major factor.

The Beta is not a chance to test the game out to see if you like it. It is meant for serious fans that want to help the Devs find and destroy the bugs and glitches in the game, so that at release people who do not have the time to test can enjoy the game as bug free as possible.

Public opinion sways the masses. It takes about 10 positive things to say to counteract 1 negative comment, even if it's just "My sister hated the game." Beta is not the complete game and to report anything to people about the game your playing could be false for the released game, because the game can change in Beta.

My advice is to not ever sign up for a Beta unless you really want to play the game and are willing to put forth the effort to truly test the game and all its aspects, so that you can weed out as many bugs and glitches as possible before release.

I do really want to play 1st, because I want to play the game, 2nd, because Ive never beta tested before, and its a chance to learn if I beta test again. 3rd Ive never won anything before, or almost completely nothing, (I think I got a 75 cent cupon off of a pizza one time) so this is a chance to use what I won.
