They'll check for ID!

I love kids but stay out of mmos you miserable brats (They are different people when secured behind a monitor).

    About the kids not playing.....think again....kids will find a way to get into the game thats how kids are they always find a way past the system. ALl they need is a credit card and bingo! AoC here i come!

    Im not bothered if kids (that managed to find a way) play so long as they dont do anything against me!

    Any game will have immature people, reguardless of their age.

    I just hope I don't see the game's town filled with half naked (or fully if they can) people just jumping and dancing like fools.

    I don't know about stealing souls, but they mentioned having demon familiars ripping the still beating heart out of an opponents chest and eating it.

    True, but Funcom managed to keep a very mature and stable community going in Anarchy Online, even after the classic version went free. I had never before seen a beginners area with so many people willing to answer a question rather than just yelling at the poor guy to STFU N3WB. With a little luck and some work, the mature gamers in AoC should be able to help FC maintain a similar standard of behavior.

    Sounds to me like they are trying to stay as far away from the kiddies as possible.  And it will amaze me to see how many 18+ people are out there who play MMORPGs.  Even 20+ for that matter.

    With the exception of WoW because as we all know that games age base is 12-15

    Nor should they be. I mean barbarian, pirate, fallout etc. games, who really believes an enviroment like that would revolve around political correctness or maturity ratings. Freedom and interactivity is what is part of what it's about, the more options possible the better, it all enhances the game experience.

    But I don't mind the kids aka 'brats' that much really. I used to play WoW and some were okay, but a lot were a nuisance like in the barren's chat for instance. Sp yes, they can be annoying but those particular individuals also make very good victims in my experience. No one else gets so angry, frustrated and take it so personal when they get killed as they do. So I'd prefer to have some of them to virtually decapitate them.

    I definately think it would be interesting to see how things will work out.  The problem is that people always presume that the immature asshat spamming obscene things in caps is eleven years old, where are there are quite a few instances when grown individuals are the ones doing it. It is always more of a question of maturity than age, I think.

    Their parents? If they are responsible enough to check the game they are paying for with their credit card, yes

    As to the maturity level of players overall, I have seen that if people keep up a certain code of behavior on the chat channels and elsewhere, new players will in general adhere to it, regardless of their age or how they act in other games. And one thing is for certain, I do not remotely mind playing with a kid. So long as he doesnt act even younger than he really is.

    Right. They never said they will "reject kids" They only said they will warn than ban people with bad behaviour. The game doesn't even care what age you are. Its just a recommendation. Kids have to be in the store with their mom or dad when they buy the game. If they first buy the game. they will be allowed to play. Get it?

    And you can stay out of mmo's yourself you stupid lowlife creature

    Here-here! Absolutely, out of all the major mmos I've played, (all with good and bad of course) Anarchy Online has a community in game that by and large really helps one another.  I think that is an extension of the fact that everyone playing needs other people of different professions for buffing, getting into implants/symbs, etc., and it all works much better if people try to help one another.  The day I started playing (09-2002, not counting beta) I logged in and created my character (high learning curve in AO, higher than any other mmo in my opinion) and with 30 minutes in game, I had not one but two high level players teaching me about the mission booths, implants, the various skills in the tree and where to spend my points, and why I would want really badly to buy a Yalm :) There have been times I've logged in with my metaphysicist and the only thing I did was stand around and buff people and shoot the breeze (just how many times CAN you run CI or mochies in a night hehe). 

    Funcom fostered this within the design of the game from the start, and I do believe they'll do it again, and this time, they won't have the the problems they did when AO came out...they've learned, and AoC will rock as long as they stick to what they've done right.

    nope, I get my money, buy the game.. ask for the credit card number n put it in, why would my parents care if its not harming me? I know whats right n whats wrong.. and they trust me for that

    Of course your parents may let you, but I am unsure about the seller tho
