I did the exact same thing and I'm loving every minute of it. First off, I'm sure there will be dual costs for XBox Live + Huxley sub, but it will be altered to take into account the dual fees. Anyway, XBox Live is something like 4 bucks a month so its not a big hit to the wallet.

Assuming you dig RPGs, you absolutely have to get ES 4: Oblivion once you buy an Xbox 360. If you're a sports fan, get the EA Fight Night game that just totally kicks anus or wait a few more days for Madden 07 to drop. Shooter fans must have Call of Duty 2, until Gears of War releases in October. Driving fans need Gotham and the Mech Combat genre is ruled by Chrome Hounds currently.

Huxley is a completely seperate service from Xbox Live. You don't have to play Xbox Live to enjoy Huxley.

    :P

Though I advise grabbing Live anyway, as it's obviously a wonderful service to take advantage of with the 360.

I just recently picked up a 360 and resubbed to XBL. I am loving every minute of it. An Xbox live sub is 50 bucks for the year, a worthy investment.

In regards to Huxley, there will probably be another fee on top of that, think about it, you will have the XBL community, so there will always be someone on playing something somewhere. If you got a 360, would you keep paying your mmo sub fees for the PC versions?

At the moment, with the dullness of the current MMO landscape 360+XBL is an awesome escape!

I'll have to say, I love my 360 and Xbox Live. I would suggest getting an HD-TV if you can afford it. I got my 360 when I had just a Cathode-Ray Tube television and it was nice, but something was bothering me.

Finally, I went crazy and bought an HD-TV on www.secondact.com. 32" Samsung LCD with 5 year warranty, delivered for less than $1300. Good deal. And it has made ALL the difference.

I haven't played on Live in a month or so just because I got back into Counter-Strike: Source (old addictions never die) and have been playing Dead Rising on the 360 (freaking. awesome.). When I had Ghost Recon though, I was on Live every night. When FEAR and Call of Duty 3 come out, you can bet I'll be on all the time.

Now I know that the keyboard+mouse combo is better. I live by that axiom so don't start flaming. There's just something great about being able to relax on my couch on, playing FEAR with added effects in 1280x720 on a 32" LCD. So while the competetive gamer inside me is screaming out loud (I do own FEAR for PC and play still), the old-school gamer in me clings to my controller, rocking out to MIDI songs. Besides, a good computer now that can play those games in 1280x1024 (native rez on my LCD monitor) would cost close to $1300 and I can watch TV and movies with my friends on my TV, something that is not as viable on a 19" monitor.

Trolling aside, the 360 and Live are a great purchase in my eyes. As for the subscription prices, you'll pay both for Live and Huxley. Good news? You just need Xbox Live Silver to play MMORPGs. Silver comes free with your Xbox. You can't play non-subscription games without the premium Gold service though; no FEAR, Call of Duty 3, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, etc.

So if you just want to play Oblivion and other single-player games until the MMORPGs come rolling in, you don't even need Live.
