As I figured it, swashbucklers and assasins are pretty much the same, or?
I'm new to EQ2 and thought I'd try out playing an assasin on a PvP server,
but since I got a darkelf necro on another server, I thought I'd try playing "the good guys"
now, for some changes in quests etc.
SO! What I'm wondering is, are there really any big differences between swashbucklers and
assasins?
thx in advance

Assassins put out a lot of DPS using poisons. Swashbucklers are more jack-of-all-trades, master of none.

I was a high level swashbuckler, they do a lot of fancy flipping moves, etc. They too have poison. They are a fun class. And people like them around.
Also, one's good, one's evil.
Rangers are the Assassins opposite number. Swashbucklers, while still rogues are quite different. Swashbucklers are more of a hybrid class, or at least as close to a hybrid class as you get in EQ2. They have more group oriented buffs, still have very strong DPS, and they have taunts and defensive stances that can allow them to offtank or fill in as main tank in a pinch. Assassins are a pure DPS class and the only group utility they provide beyond their basic abilities as a scout is the capability of dumping some of their hate on the main tank.
Since 70% of Nagafen are scouts, I would role either a Brigand or Swashbuckler. Not only can those two classes see stealthed players on tracking, they can decimate other scout classes and mages with ease.
I played a 70 master ranked assassin on Nagafen, so I know what I'm talking about Go swashy or brigand if your into PvP. They are also very easy to play
Assassin = most single target dps of any class.
Brigand = best debuffer of any class.
Goodluck.
