quitting of MMO's untill releases

hola homeslices! :)

-exo here. Just thought i would throw out my thoughts in this thread on how i am feeling about the MMO's and why i will be quitting them ofcourse untill Warhammer comes out for the MMO base, to TRY the game. Over these past many, many years. MMO's no longer grasp the attention of many. it will possibly be a year, or two, before new MMO's come out that is as addicting as the past games played( which ever you encountered as your favorite.) The only decent pvp (for my taste ) is DAoC but yet so dated. I am one who goes al out for pvp , nd likes to see others whine on posted up to date forums and chatrooms or saying to their buddies" holy crap i got one shotted." it makes me feel good on the inside :). But i want to do it with honor, and pride, and not to raid a dungeon for 6 hours just so i can wear a purple lettered skirt. Or to have to grind for 8 months to hit MAYBE level 60 to go into a pvp craze as i lose all my gear.OR even for that matter. level bymyself with absoloutely no one arround  as i'm ready to "one shot " the person and as they "run into their safety zone." FYI developers, game designers, Lore writers. pvp, is NOT any of this. A good chunk of the players play MMO's for the pvp to gain a name for themselves, right? so why would yo uhave to throw them in a dungeon for a rediculous amount of hours and they say " HEY! here's your carrot on a stick" ( not of course from an endgame raid but gets the point across) or say "HEY!! i bet you that you can't hit a master crafter in 8 months! oh snap! larry look! it took him 6!!" -.- seriously now. " OH! HEY!! it took you 9 months to get to jedi! wow! yo uare good! ok so now just for that, EVERYONE can now be a jedi!! yippeee!! no work included!!"heh hope you liked my little puns ^-^.but all in all really i'm going to go back to a reality game. it's called WARHAMMER, 40k as well >.> . the miniatures that is , some of you should try it sometime ;). lol i have been playing for 7 years in fantasy and 40k and now shooting for 8 with fresh new armies and strategieswith beautiful color :). I will be doing this Untill Warhammer online is released for either beta or launch.

For those of you that will still be playing these sick and twisted games i wish the best of luck to you, for you can endure more than I :). but i do encourage you to take a step back and look at your self, your hand and fingers on the keyboard, and then at the screen . And then maybe you will have an epiphany that might go a little bit like this. " WHAT IN THE F$%^ AM I DOING?!" as you will slam your head on the desk then go to your refridgerator recieve a refreshing bevarge to sit and ponder "what now?" anyways!! all in all it was good fun to all those old MMO's but they just aren't cutting it now (not even the majority of the new ones) ohwell :)  thanks for your time guys for reading! hope to hear from you al lsoon!

    Do what I do.

Give up MMO's and play only FPS.

Seriously, the current crop of MMO's are plain garbage. It's embarassing that 5 million people actually play WoW.

Its like how popular Brittney Spears and Madonna are, it's not normal and makes no sense.

Its an embarassment to our country and the whole western world.

Killing bots to level up and kill more bots. Bleh.

Gimme the CS:S, BF2 etc. Heck even Doom 3, at least the bots in Doom 3 do interesting things like crawl on ceilings.

Where are the good sci fi games, we have nothing.

Where are the dark post-nuclear worlds, where is fallout 3, where are the Cyberpunk games.

Deus Ex 2 was an embarassment. "Alex" couldn't hold a candle to JC Denton. JC Denton is like Chuck Norris, "Alex" is like the host of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. And they totally botched the storyline and gameplay.

Very very disappointed in the current crop of Games, Movies, and mass media.

yes , sadly :( it is a great game though no doubt about it. but WoW was really the last straw ya know? SWG, WoW, EQ, UO so on so forth down the list. i mean *Sighs* the developers for the new genre and era of these updated MMOs realyl need to have soem new ideas. Warhammer online i really wouldnt take a second glance at if i didnt know the story behind both of the companies or if i knew what i know for sure will be i ngame. it is sad to say this . but Warhammer is the online MMORPG out there, stil lkeeping me intact with it. and as for shooters. i am sick of them too, i don't even want to play battlefield 2142, same old stuff different day.

We need something new and exciteing!!! *Sighs* developers.. hear our pleads :(.

Hail to reason! Event though I love the mmorpg genre, right
now it run out of any novelty for me. It just doesn’t hold the candle as a “entertainment”
right now. Lately, the part of online games I enjoyed the most, was
socializing, and to be honest this is way better implemented into RL :P When I realized
that I mostly chat I and fool around with people in mmorpgs, I just gave it up
and went to the nearest pub to meet up with my mates.

See, the problem is, almost everytime an MMORPG comes out that's got new ideas, or uses a little creativity, it bombs.

Why?  Because we're used to the same ol' MMO, and think anything different is "garbage" once we play it.

    Hmmm. disagree.

Yes, new MMO's have some new or creative ideas but they are relatively minor. The vast majority have the same old grind / level / raid format they have had since the begining. MMO's have progressed very little since the start. They have actually taken several step back in the "evolution" of the genre. Many of the newer games actually have more in common with aracade games then the original MMO's.

The core of most MMO's is the same. They are hollow leveling/grinding hamsterwheels.

Play an actual RPG (remember MMO are suppost to be massive multiplayer RPG's) Like KotoR / NWN / Oblivion/ or Vampire bloodlines. There is simply no comparrison. Most MMO's are really nothing more then Space Invaders on a 3D fantasy format. Grind on the aliens until you hit the boss then repeat it.

The potential of the MMO is awsome,. to bad no one is able to think out of the box.

    Ahh.. Vampire bloodlines… Try to
imagine such a urban setting captured in an mmorpg game,  even if its fairly impossible to provide a
similar level of immersion the “feel” alone would make for fine game play.

And I have to agree we didn’t have
any real revolutions yet, we had some improvements, but its same old if you
will strip it from all these new fancy features.

I love how you talk down on WOW but yet you say your going to be going to Warhammer online which is probably the biggest WOW clone out there todate....

I agree about the PVP in games today lacking but there are some interesting concepts comming about in games in the near future. AOC, Gods and Heros, Huxley all offer something new things out there that we dont currently have. And all of them will be offering various forms of PVP, expecially AOC which PVP system sounds amazing.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith

I think you should do some research before posting.
  • You have the right idea brother...

I've have no plans to play another MMOG 'till 2010 or so.

I totally agree with fizzle...just go with single player games 'till you get a MMOG that you REALLY want to play!
