DAoC

Its RvR. It was good in its prime, I don't know about now a days. I haven't played it in 3 years lol. (ToA release)

They have classic servers now. I hear the populations are sort of light....performance isn't so good

Either that or WoW..........

My wife is laughing at me. She been playing WoW since release.

I think I need  a break from these games for awhile........

Well I tried DaOc with the trial about 2 years ago but can't remember why it didn't stick with me,so I'll give it another shot but if it means anything I'm playing WoW now on Thrall server ( east coast ) leveling up a 52 pally and in a very good guild now ( Not elite and not kiddie ) just family people playing and enjoying the game. But yea I'm open minded to games...so lets see what we can get going here

    Waiting on Guild Wars 2

I'd suggest holding out until Archlord comes out. Judging by your signature, you used to be a big Lineage 2 fan, and Archlord is supposed to be somewhat similar, so it should be right up your alley.

I am playing Archlord currently and well, it is okay I guess so far. Only level 4 lol but I don't really know. It is not great but it is nothing bad. Will make judgements when I actually get high enough.

Archlord? lol, Some thing, differnent box.

Players only now get to pay higher and higher monthly fees and in return they will get more and more benefits. It has nothing to do with quality gameplay or an interesting, diverse virtual MMO world. Pay more money and you level faster. If its a quality game, why are they offering you the benefit of leveling faster? So you can miss all the great quality content? No because there will not be any.

I don't mean to come down on you but this whole thing has been triggered by this sort of behavior. There is nothing in my sig or post history that I endorse "cheap" game design or the behavior that is going to promoted and rewarded in a game like Archlord.

I was so pissed I went out and picked up DAoC Epic

Dark Age of Camelot has really upkept the game. It looks very good.

You can tell its a bit aged with the UI but the visuals are very good and greatly improved since I played it 3 years ago

thats not true at all. the reason Codemasters implanted this system is because there is a lot of competition. it seems to be any successfull these days, you at least need a big name behind you, such as Warcraft,Lord of the rings,Final Fantasy. this is simply done to reach a wider audience, mainly the people who can't afford/don't want to pay 15$ a month and those that want to play more then one mmorpg. Codemasters has done research, and it seems more and more people start to pay for 2 mmorpg's. its unfair to judge the quality of the game simply by its payment system. Archlord is a mmorpg with a cash shop in korea, so its already build with this system in mind, which means it will be balanced. it simply has a cash shop in korea because nowadays that payment system works better in korea. only low quality mmorpg's that come to the west use the cash shop payment system, but in korea, both high AND low quality mmorpg's use the cash shop system.

but to get back on DAOC, I tried it a couple of months ago, and found it not really my thing. I do still have an active account for World of Warcraft (europe) if you play on the europe servers, give me a call ;)

I just closed my acct :(. I am kinda fed up at the moment with MMO's I need a break from them, so I ended up cancelling all my paid subscriptions this past weekend.

DAoC is an excellent tide me over until something more interesting to you comes along I would think.

My character was on the Gareth server, nice little population in the starting areas.

DAoC will always have one thing that I have yet to find in other games...mood & atmosphere. L2 was close, but there's something about running around at night only being able to see inside the peripherary of your torch, and then the ambient music & audio kick in, that was my favorite part of the game.

    Current Games:

    Hey GL,

I don't mean to attack I know you are a big fan of AL. (someone said you are a Mod for their boards, is this true? If so, may we blame you if the game doesn't work out?)

I'm sure its going to have many good things about it. I'm just lashing out at certain aspects of it. High sub frees to give more benefits and speed things up just goes against the core of game design which is play to have FUN. It does look nice. The limited character creation kind of turns me off also. Not that I have an issue with it but I like male avartars. whatever anyone else enjoys playing is cool, I don't care, but thats my personal taste So AL restricting certain class to females only kinda turns me off. But hell, 9.99 is a very nice sub fee! I hope it works out for them.

Yeah, I still have a WoW account, unfortunately its on a U.S. server. Between me and my wife we have like half a dozen 60's. You know how it is switching. I would go but I would need to drop the cash on another set of boxed sets and start all over and to be honest WoW lost its pazzaz over a year ago for me. My wife is set and happy in her guild of Europeans / Aussies so its not really an option anyway.

PM me your info. (realm and name) I have a brand new account and no ties (I have an old account as well, my wife may come back and have a look also)

The mood and atmosphere, L2 will always be my number 1. The music and the world are simply stunning. F**k you NCSoft. Hope you are happy.
