    No, the free trial is just that: completely money and obligation free. All you need is to get a trial code from a website that carries the promotion (those are all over the Internet). The most common trial to be found is 14 days, but there are also ones floating around for 7 and 30 days (I wish I knew where to get a 30 day trial online, but to my knowledge, they are only available by meeting CCP physically at conventions and such).

    There are minor limitation on trial accounts. Those being that you cannot remotely transfer money to another character and you cannot train certain classes of ship. Everything else is exactly the same. There are no 'trial servers' or areas you are locked out of. And, when your trial is up, you can reactive the account to full retail at any time afterwards.

    Nu11u5 explained it pretty well. I got my trial promotion from mmorpg.com, just got to look for it or wait for the banner to appear.

    Actually I think those 30 days trials are infact the 30 days of free gaming you get once you sign on... ofcourse... you download the game, pay 20 dollar get 30 days free gaming, before you start paying your 15 dollar subscription.

    There are a 20 day trials as well, it was included with the EVE CCG pre order megapack. Got 2 of those around somewhere :)

    I got a 14 day free trail at download and when I upgraded my account I got an additional 30 days free.  This was about 1 month ago.

    Yah, 20 days, that's what I meant. CCP handed them out at GenCon too. I should have grabbed a few to corrupt a few people at my university :P

    Bah, my free trial was only 3 days!!

    I swear though, it seemed a lot longer than 3 days. ;P

    Yea the 14 day free trial is available still and it has limitations but really in 14 days thes elimitations are not that important you cans till try most of what the game has to offer and i recommend you try it.
    There is a free trial on the site link at bottom of my post l if you cant find it on mmorpg.com
