I got a reply from Administrator in the official forums of the game :
"Now, it would be completely unrealistic to devote a huge amount of time and resources to regulate thousands of users and what they say when they are online. Now, harassment is another situation that will not be tolerated but there are certain things that make up harassment and saying 'omg i r0x' while playing is not something that is going to be regulated even though it is not within theme.

What the hell does being a carebear have to do with shoddy internet language? In fact, it much more often comes from PKers and griefers.
Besides, as Vertex says, your asking for this game to do something no company has ever done, then singleing it out as bad because they stated it would take too much effort? Which is a big reason why no one else does it.

Harassment is one thing.
The guy said on the site it will NEVER EVER be politically correct.
And he said right there it would be pointless to devote time to what countless people say.
*Personally I have beliefs that get me banned often becuase people gave up freedom of speech for political correctness which is revolting.

I'm confused which part the OP has a problem with. If he is upset that they will not allow him to harass people, that is clearly absurd... But i think he is saying he doesn't want to see OOC chat flying around in spacial... and that, IMO is equally absurd... but I have never been able to understand the desire or motivation to RP anyway.

I don't really follow what you're saying here. How does this information translate into PvP with no consequences or hardship of any kind?

Oh well... Some people simply don't like to be swore at. That isn't in my list of "reasons there are carebears".
If that's his only "carebear" beef and he's this upset, then he'll never be able to play another MMO without popping a bloodvessel. Maybe someone will start a vulgar online game and he can satisfy his hangup.

Well, I don't see the problem here either. Asking a game distributor if one is allowed to use foul language is pretty dumb and will get the appropriate and logical response, which is ofcourse 'no'.
Usually the filters can be switched off anyway and even if they can't, there are enough variables on letters to dodge the filters, this happens every time. So I still don't see the problem here. Pretty useless topic and arguement against the game, thus I'll just use this thread to up my post count so I can edit my reviews again.

Well, the game IS RATED 18+, why are people so worried about swearing when the game is made for ADULTS.

The question wasn't of swearing at all or not, that never came up really. Going off your rocker and insulting the hell out of a person is a lot different than letting out a cuss word or two to express your feelings. Even if there is a filter, its way too easy to get around it anyways. I'd post an example of what I mean, i've seen and reported all too many cases, but im liable to get banned if a mod looks at it the wrong way.

Call me crazy and all, but ... I think there's a difference between using obscene language and harassment. For example, I kill you and leave your rotting corpse with a few choice words, versus following you around constantly spouting off rants.
Now if all you can do is verbally abuse someone, then I think you're the carebear.

Who said i want to make harassment? I just want freedom. I want to find all kind of ppl in game, evil, chaotic, good, ass and nice ppl, so just freedom. I am fed up of an army of clones that cant behave in other way but what the codes of conduct of game says. Personally i never talk with slang, maybe some swearing some time and i generally dont start a fight but i end it.

I interpret Justin's quote as stating that players won't be censored based on what they say, but on harassing other players. If, by your quote, you don't want to harass anyone, then what's your issue with Justin's response?

That even i dont harass i want it to be allowed. If someone harass to me i just will reply back and kill him or flee if i am not strong enough. I dont care someone harass or not, each person is different and i like that. That is part of life that some ppl try to make you angry all the time, they try to provoke you and start a fight maybe. Not allowing that is not allowing roleplaying completely, simply cause you cant roleplay all kind of personalities ppl have. Some say that is not roleplaying, for them rp is just use some certain roles but not all, and that doesnt make sense.

I was almost sure that AoC wouldnt allow complete freedom. I would have to be very naive for that, but i had a small hope when i saw it was going to be rated as mature game. What it is true is that it will be the closest to what i want probably, anyway i am afraid it ends being completely censored to say any kind of insult or swearing.
