The website is lacking in information, which is either a foolish oversight or suspicious.

I would love to pilot an Awesome for the Free Worlds Leauge in an MMO setting, just like I usually did playing the old FASA tabletop with Partha Pewters.

My brothers and some friends haven't give up the pewters or the tabletop gaming. Not many CBT players left in my neck of the woods in Oklahoma. We are playing tomorrow as a matter of fact.

    No, it isn't a mod.
ISW is a computer program designed for a community of mechwarrior players. The program is designed to enhance the battletech experience by incorporating all aspects of Mech Warfare including Mercenary Support, Logistics, Full Economy, Full Control of the Chain of Command by all involved in it, Gladitorial Dueling and Planet Capture. Each Person has certain levels of control and access of data relating to his position in the house. House Leaders in ISW will be a very challenging position, requiring many hours of play time.
ISW is not a copy of anything. It is a compilation of all original source code to create the things needed to truly enjoy the Battletech Experience. Currently ISW uses MW4 as the combat engine, with full permissions from Microsoft. However this should not be construed as indicating that ISW is a league like many others on the internet. It is much more then a league, it is the total package, and 0% web based. The only web based component is this website and message boards. Everything needed to play the game of ISW is internal to the program itself, including live communications, intergame messages, meeting halls (bars) where houses or units can meet without worry of eavesdropping, an integrated and fully user customizable map consisting of over 2000 planets representing the true inner sphere as it was meant to be and many other features.
ISW is produced by Inner Sphere Design Studios Coporation (ISDS), all rights reserved.

You are more than welcome to learn what it is about. www.iswars.com

Holy crap this uses MechWarrior 4.  I thought it was a table top sim.   I gotta play this. I love that game.

It was 12.5 megs. Haven't tried it yet. The file size put me off. MW4 took up two full discs. (Plus about 6 expansion discs).

it seems you need to have MW4 to use this mod/interface/thingy.

You need either the original MW4 which is Vengenace or apparently Black Knight (1st expansion) with a special patch.  MW4 Mercenaries(2nd expansion) wasn't mentioned so I assume that isn't kosher.

Fortunately I have all three :P.

That would be correct. Mercs is not compatible.

To anyone who posted or read this forum, there is currently in the works a mecha mmorpg game in progress called Force Of Arms.

Details can be located at www.forceofarms.com.

This is a legitimate, non-mod, company creating a next gen MMORPG.

    Hello all,

I wanted to sound in here because I heard that discussion was going on about ISW. There is so much to explain, here is a link to an interview I did sometime ago.

    ISW Interview

This information is old, but much of it is accurate. We are getting ready for Planetary combat (we use 2196 planets on our map). ISW also supports full logistics, chain of command, economy and supply. MW4 is used for Combat only.

Here is a current screen....This is one of the many views presented to the player. This is a Program, not a web browser based game.

I hope this helps explain things, our corporate website is really nothing because I simply dont have the time to deal with it right now.

Its likely ISW will be donation based. All are welcome.

    This looks very interesting....

I would love this but is there really a big enough player base?

This coupled with a release of MW:5 or as a part of MW:5 along with some RPG elements would be a tremendous game!

Witty saying to amuse you goes here.

I thought MW 5 was just a rumor. I haven't checked into it. Who is developing it? Microcrap?
