Simple Questions

Considering coming back to the game. I havent touched it since late beta phase and during a trial after initial launch. Are there more villains than heroes? How is the PVP is it atleast semi-balanced and do the hardcore gamers have a massive advantage over average joe ( dude with a job), unlike WoW.

Depends on lvl...at the Bloddy Bay lvl (like 15) villians way outnumber heros and it is a stalkers paradise.*

at the Recluse's Victory lvl (50) it is hero heavy and pretty well balanced except for some uber builds.

At Siren's Call lvl (25) it seems to be dependant on server and I am not sure about balance.

HammiO's (the only real difference between hardcore and casual) dont seem to make that much of a difference, maybe a percent or 2. Seems to be more about if your build is done with PvP in mind or not.

*my experence in BB was before the recent change in how Exemping and enhancements work...YMMV.

If your coming back because you are in it for the PvP, don't come back.  They have yet to make the PvP extraordinarily fun.

Come back if you like the feeling of just pwning the crap out of good/bad guys.

    That's why I came back.

    And I love it

Iv not played since the villian expansion came out but is it still arena oriantated fighting or can you like go round the streets and kill villian from the expansion or vice versa or any plans to impliment this i might come back if this was possible. as it be really fun to kill player vilians rather than npc ones.

There are 4 different zones with 4 different rulesets:

Bloddy Bay: Each side tries to control meteor crash sites to collect samples. Reward: a few charges of a nasty pet called a Shivan

Sirens call: Team based NPC fights all over the zone, you join in to tip the balance, you also can take bounties on other PC's in the zone for big xp and PvP points.

Warburg: FFA zone similliar to BB, but the task is much harder and it is everyman for himself. Reward: launch codes to an orbital missle you can call in later.

Recluse's Victory: Sort of a true RvR zone...struggle to control bases in the zone...control them all and your side gets attacked by the Signiture guys from the other side (States and co or LR and his goons). Smashing them gives you all kinds of fun stuff...then the zone resets.

Acolades were a smal advantage but balanced now. pvp ( an i dont like pvp in games mostly ) is fun in zones imho.Seems to be a balance hero vs villian side as far as players in pve zones . My experiance is higher the pvpv zone tho the less villians per hero the ratio goes.alot of factors can cause that .

The important thing to realize about PvP is that it's flat-out not balanced for 1-on-1, they're pretty straightforward about that. Depending on the builds there certainly are some interesting single player matches, but for the most part it's about team vs team. For example, I wouldn't go in there to solo with an Defender, but a good Defender can really a swing a team's success.

Once you're part of a PvP team, differences in powersets aren't as important. What matter more is skill and team coordination. For that reason, I would say a casual player has a fine chance vs the hardcore player - unlike WoW it's not about gear (or the enhancement/accolade equivalent). Hami-Os and accolades may help, but not overwhelmingly so. However, you'll want to find a good PvPing SuperGroup - which will inevitably use Ventrilo or TeamSpeak.

Grinreaper's list is good. Just to add: Bloody Bay is 15 minimum, everyone becomes lvl 25. Siren's Call is 20 min, everyone becomes 30. Warburg is 30 min, everyone becomes 38. And Recluse's Victory is 40 min, everyone becomes 50. I'd say Siren's Call is probably the busiest - but I may be biased since it's my favorite.

Additionally, people of any level can battle in the Arena. Matches are fixed from 1-on-1 to 75-on-75. Also you can earn "gladiators" to fight for you vs an opponent's gladiator. The Arena's are pretty empty though so it's best to find opponents outside and head over there.

Lastly, Base Raids show promise - and are yet another reason to get a good SG. They're not fully implemented yet but getting to defend a base you've built with your own defenses is a special kind of fun.

As for more heroes or more villains, it swings depending on what has newer content. I would say most players have both, so you can't say definitively which side is bigger.
