there isn't much to say on this MMO yet its still early dev. im sure itll be more active once more info is released.

  • _Shadowmage_Shadowmage Member Posts: 1,459

Its actually late dev if they are still hoping to release this year.

I am hoping we hear news of a beta real soon, then NCSoft should ramp up its marketing and get things happening.

  • KhanUKKhanUK Member Posts: 31

I think the Beta is a few months off yet, I would imagine we will get a heads up in the form of a community section going up on the official site. Once the forums and beta sign-up are on-line we know we are a matter of weeks/months until the beta starts.

The release of this game is said to be in 2006 however I would imagine it will be very late 2006 or early 2007. It will be worth the wait though, it looks awesome from what i've seen so far!

You're right, this is the best looking MMO coming. It seems to mix well science/technology with magic/fantasy with those weird powers we'll be getting along with our guns. I also love it's PvE and I hope to get into a role-playing guild. It seems to be similar as well to GW and CoV in the sense that these two games are about actions and not much into crafting/grinding, in these two games too you get a lot going for a little time, no need to play 24 hours a day. Sure there will be crafting in TR but not as extensive and deep as a regular MMO to drive you crazy. I'm looking forward to go to other planets as well. I don't know Gariott and I've never played any Ultima games but the guy has an impeccable reputation. Plus NCSoft is a good company who support untraditional MMOs and usually has card games as well as credit cards, so those who don't have a credit card, like me, can play.

It's quite unfortunate that there is so little information and that each time there is a preview/interview, the same infos are being reused again and again. Beta!!! Beta!!!

It is fairly quiet.. considering this is one of the few properly made mmos coming out. Theres competition for sure. Warhammer.. and well...maybe Battlefield 2140.. thats about it.

The market needs TR.. seriously needs it, we need a proper online mmo which is fun to play, an evolving world where we make a difference.  Almost every scifi mmo to date has been utter tosh.  TR will be the first true scifi mmo to hit the market. Eve being the first 'decent' space mmo...

Although, i suppose Planetside was really a sci-fi mmo as well. And was damn good fun to.

Tabula Rasa will be a good sell when its released... I just hope they dont go $oe on us or sell the Eu part to the cheapest bidder.   And obviously.. some csrs and a decent subscription system wouldn't go amiss.

Time will tell. Tbh i don't really expect Vanguard to amount to much or the Wow expansion, Ddo is trash, swg..lol..

The only serious competition is WAR and possibly Lotor... and on the fps side. 2k7 and Bf 2140. These the the games people will be playing.

Life is about Living, Sleep is about Dreaming, Games are about Strategy!

We can expect dice to do some great things as always, but i dont see how an FPS competes with TR. WAR? you mean lolWoW 2? Im just amazed at how many people think DaOC was a good game... i mean it was like EQ but w/o the great encounters.... w/o the actual content.

Im really looking foward to TR, if it has 500k players im cool with that, This game could have mass appeal but the kiddies want things basic. I know only one thing for sure, the game people will be playing is WoW... 6mil subs... yeah. I just dont want the WoW trash community to spill in to w/e game im playing, yea i know its going to happen but meh,  i mean my current game FFXI's community was once a very proud and quiet group. Now we got leroy runnin around, i goto jeuno and i see chuck norris jokes in chat, i mean WoW is a shit magnet.

The last gen was so bad that most of us have no place to go, allot of us went and tried wow and just fleed back to our old mmo accounts.

I'm sure it's all happening behind the scenes. Usually marketing will start when the game is closer to completion which is still a few months off yet. I know Tentonhammer.com are planning a Q&A session with the Tabula Rasa team so hopefully we'll see that soon.

    Thanks for the bump.

T.R has a new community manager CuppaJo who comes with a great reputation from COH/COV and spent her first week on the job at the Austin Game Developers Conference.

She still managed to make a post here and at a few other community sites.

So the information should start to trickle in soon ....... fingers, legs and assorted other appendages crossed.

I'm very much looking forward to this game from what little information I've been able to find.

Very suprised there isn't more hype from NCsoft considering this is probably their biggest title coming out anytime soon.  I played COH and COV, both good games, but they lacked any end game content and the grind was horrid, so making an alt got very very old very fast. If they would decrease the exp requirements to level I'd go back as there are several cool ATs and power combos, but I don't have the patiences to spend another 100 days getting to 50 again.

Speaking to Richard Garriot, I played many of his games and enjoyed them all, except Ultima Online, which in my opinion was a poorly designed MMO that severely undersized the world and allowed to much freedom in their pvp and housing system. However, from what he has said in various info on TR I'm excited to give him another chance.

I hope this game does very well and gets the subscribers its going to need to help NC soft keep some good developers around. COH suffered severly when the end game was reached and their was no content and people immediately left for better pastures. I know my entire group of friends who used to play COH got very bored very fast when they had finished the content. They all now play WOW.

TR looks great however and I'm very much looking forward to playing it at release!

Well you have to remember that Ultima Online when it was released what 10 years (or so) ago was one of the first MMORPG games, so really they were developing systems with no-idea what players would want, or what would work.

Now developers know what things work, what things dont, companies have a lot more experience with the server, billing, customer support etc.

Yet its still possible to release games which just arent successful.

Good point about UO being one of the first MMO's to go semi mainstream. However its still around and still horrid from what I can tell. Apparently someone likes that style. So an interesting question is:
Are there enough players who don't like games like WOW and will pay for games other than WOW to be worth a publisher backing developers to make them?

Eve might be a good example of this, they have stuck to their hardcore playstyle and are still around.

Hopefuly TR will have some decent mainstream appeal without making it to easy.

Well coming soon is better than a date that gets pushed out and out.

However in following the game for a while my expectation is that the game will go into beta before the end of the year and release before mid-2007.

Of course remember that I have no inside knowledge so this is just a guess based on following the game, and what information has been released.

At E3 in May this year they said they had pretty much two of the planets for release complete and were working on the third. They also had a dev say months not years when asked about a release date.

We now know all 7 character classes. So the game seems to be progressing well.

Thats the sort of thing they should have decided before they even started...

Most of the basic ideas for classes has been out for a while now in concept art (heavy weapons, medic, engineer etc.) and probably thought up well before that so it's not like it has just been created. In addition, it's not just the class names but also info on their armors, weapons, abilities, and signature moves.

Yup - but they have only recently confirmed the names and abilities of those classes to the community.
