    Finally they figured it out

When I heard SWG was in production I immidiatly wanted to beta test it. As soon as the trial came out I tried it and it was the greatest game I ever played even it was a full of bugs. I wanted to buy SWG but the monthly payments where keeping me back. So I though ok I safe a bit of money and will buy it eventually.

Along came the CU which had loads of negative reviews. It gave me some doubt about buying the game, but I accepted the changes eventhough I didn't like them. Still trying to figure out how to pay those monthly payments NGE came out. At that point I knew that it was no longer the game I wanted so many years ago. The "updates" totally ruined the game for me and many others.

They probably lost more customers then they originally anticipated. I only wonder why did they take so long to figure it out and what are they going to do to correct their error in judgement

    Rofl...

Nice spin... almost worthy of Devspeak.

But sometimes you have just have to use common sense O... even you cannot deny what they said about the NGE being a mistake, as in a no no.

They realized they shit on people and should not have introduced the NGE... how you don't see that is sad... whats worse is seeing them say that (oh in the last 6 months we got some bugs fixed) --- since the NGE has been live for 10 and they have half the content and 1/3 the profs... nobody is saying (OH WOW YOU GUYS ARE GREAT) -- when in fact as you can see in plain text they pretty much admit a failure.

If you somehow think that speach is some great review or plug of thier game then I realize you are not even on the same planet as some people.

Just use common sense this time at least.  Read it for what it is... not what you think it should be.

If we're talking about the way the NGE was introduced, then no I don't agree with the way they went about it and I never have.  I doubt anyone agrees with the way it was introduced, how it affected people differs from person to person though.

What the article seems to me, to be saying is (I could be wrong) , Hey guys we're sorry. You were right we were wrong . please give us your money again .

That is about as plain as you can lay it out . If I were a dev in that audience , I couldn't hold myself back from laughing tbh. The testicle fortitude to come out in public , Acting as though you are teaching anyone any lesson they didn't learn from NEW COKE .Is not only bold , but iditotic  .

QFE. It may have been idiotic, but nothing as you and I have stated previously, will change. NGE will still be SWG. No classic servers, no rollback. Actually, it was the perfect time to come out with this little announcement on their part. Do it so far  in where all the players that hate it and moved on won't see it or won't care. Those that have stayed or joined don't care and those who join by Christmas time will never remember this article....except the few in here who will use it as a battle cry for the next 8 months.

Love it or hate it ...NGE is here to stay

And fail as it is.     (You forgot that part).

NO matter what though, it will go down as one of the worst ideas and games ever now.   In a way it should make the people that quit feel better they made the right choice.

If anything this shortened the lifespan though.

Some people will read this, some will use common sense I think.

No, you just don't seem to get it . It doesn't matter, it hasn't failed. Folks still quit, folks still stay and folks still join this game. As much as you hate to hear it, its true. It doesn't need WOW or preCU numbers to survive, it has 14 other MMO's in SOE's inventory to weather it through some tough times. Look at Matrix and Planetside. Those guys have some serious sub issues but they aren't gone. Why? Because SWG, EQ and EQ2 and the other game subs help carry it along. Soo they will add Vanguard and DC Comics to the list.

Yes, some folks will read the article and say "Yup, I made the right choice to leave " but on the flip side other will read it, think that they may be fixing alot of bugs they hated before a re-sub again.

Than again, the vast majority of players don't read the SWG forums at all much less an unknown website posting about two SOE folks saying they messed up.

"If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"

It seems to me they did anticipate losing subs, but they expected to recover them with new players. What they didn't expect (much like the Emperor didn't expect Ewoks to take out his best legion) was the backlash of angry customers uniting together to post the bad reviews, and to essentially stop anyone we knew from buying the game. Word of mouth got them and they weren't expecting that. They thought we were stupid ,disorganised, had a very short attention span, and didn't realise how passionate we were.

So everyone else shouldn't do it? Yet soe is going to continue doing that and press development on NGE mechanics? Is that not the dumbest person in the universe speaking? Admitting it is a bad idea and staying the course with a very bad idea?
I thought he said learn from his mistakes? I dont get it? I am left in total amazement.  Its like knowing the foundation of your house is unstable and sinking in the ground and still putting your house ontop of it.  What kind of idiot does that?
He says it was the wrong thing to do but this is the best most stable the game has been? um huh? The NGE has been plagued with bugs and lag issues.  It has all the same core mechanical flaws of spawning, warping and lagging as before? It still has CTD issues.  The trial before it was pulled had issues for all kinds of users.  What sort of bug free game is he discussing? They had to revise the bug thread wording because there where so many core issues.  I mean wth?

    Yep...

Lol, trust me I get it.  Not my first day in business man.   It failed, it was a mistake and it's that simple.

YES OTHER GAMES CAN CARRY IT , SURE... this can happen, but the NGE  and this version of the game have failed.  Obvioulsy what they thought they could gain was not met and in hindsight as it says they wish they had not done this.

Bottom line, some people are more forgiving, some have no common sense, some do not care and will waste money without a care in the world, some people get tired of being lied to, kicked in the teeth and bite back.

It takes all kinds, I agree but I also know a bad prodcut when I see it, when the makers of it, the producers of it and the President of the company that makes it say it was a mistake... I use my common sense at that point and see it for what it is.

NOT for what it "could" be or "may" be.... by all means this is a failure hence the long speach of the producers saying "DO NOT DO WHAT WE DID".....

Man some of you guys just need to PM me to buy some freaking swamp land though.. your killing me.

^ /agree it bombed, they just said it. So did a lot of other people. More than 10 as pirrg would have you think. shit if gamesutra says they lost half their player base then you know its gotta be about right, they may even have sugar coated it a bit for SOE. I assume it was even more. LOL@ Fanbois. All those people don't wanna come back, most left and never said a word. I knew of plenty who did just that.
