There is no reason at all for the level cap to be raised. Character development in this game is NOT achieved through leveling up, but rather in speding time with your character by actually playing the game. As you the person gets better your character gets better. If you can't beat the mobs, don't whine that you're not a high enough level, go back and fix your tactics first.

Besides, if the level cap were dropped, my Ranger would be over level 150 by now. And he's pretty low on the XP scale.

Hell no. If they would ever raise caps, I would quit instantly, and I am serious about that. I think they would lose far more players than they would gain from it. Why oh why does every game need to be turned into the same 'zillion levels cookie cutter game'? The whole idea of not being fixed on levels and grind is quite refreshing, and that's probably why GW does so well. Can't people just be happy with the game the way it is? And if they're not happy with it: there are tons and TONS of games out there with more levels and grind. Take your pick.

I agree with you... the story and quests are made to enjoy playing, not to level up... A low max level is moreover a good thing as the goal of the game isn't becoming the best and comparing levels... :)

All of you people saying no have great reasons why, but I just think it would be better because it just kinda stinks because it seems like there aren't like a lot of places to go and monsters to fight since they are all like level 31 and below. I think it would be cool if we could at least go to level 50.

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you are saying here. You want level 50 so you can beat level 31 and below mobs? Or do you think there aren't enough areas with level 31 mobs to fight against with your level 20? I assume it's the latter, and that means you want more content. Why do you need level 50 for that? So they can make more areas with level 61 mobs? If that's the case, then why not keep the level 20 cap and ask for more areas with level 31 mobs. Same thing really. Because it really doesn't matter whether you fight level 31 mobs with level 20 char, or fight level 61 mobs with level 50. It would only add grind to get to that level 50.

I think that's the point of GW, you can become good player and so if you train, train and train playing you're character

Your "level" is relative as such it doesn't matter what lvl you really our.

If your lvl was increased to 50 and all the mobs to 61 no change would really been made at all.  Your asking for a higher lvl cap... You didn't ask for more PvE areas of a large variety of monsters to fight.  The two are independant of each other.

But what that would help?just some grinding and it doesn't even effect in attribute points(or that's what i think) so you would get some skill points and i thinks you would'n even get health more

What I'm saying is I want to do more leveling in the game, it's just so easy to get to level 20 (especially if you have Factions).

What everyone else is saying is that if levling is what you're interested in, GW isn't the game for you.  The only purpose leveling serves in GW is to give you time to learn the game mechanics and some skills before PVP'ing and/or playing in higher level PVE areas.

What is the difference of grinding extra lvls +20 for skill points... then earning "real" extra lvls.  Unlike most MMO their isn't a "true" cap level per se... as you can continue to XP to make you char more veritile by unlocking more skills.

There is NO reason to have more levels.

Those who votes up for levels haven't gotten the idea of what Guild Wars is made for.

Levels are never needed. Levels are only made in games because it's the easiest way of judgeing wether the difficulty level is hard or easy. The developers are simply LAZY! Maby not at the beginning of time when levels was very new, but today, it's prooven that levels are only lazy-stuff.

How could you make a rpg without levels? If you can't answer that question you should never even concider making a mmorpg of your own. I believe the future of mmorpg's will be very different from the standard ones we have today. They are all alike because they depend on the same level + item depending systems.

Think SWG (Not post-NGE that's not allowed to be called SWG) and EVE, the two most outstanding games who managed to become something even though they didn't use the strict item+level systems. Even Saga Of Ryzom uses a more different system.

You might say leveling is fun but truly, what's the point?

I think that if you enjoy leveling in a game mostly, then I would look out for a different game to play that satisfies your needs more if I were you. Like I said before: there are tons and tons of games where the main focus is on leveling. Only VERY few games aren't, and I would hate to see those turned into the same level (and gear) focused game like 98% of the games are.

Honestly, i wouldnt want to kill a in pvp when everyone is lvl 50 thats about......480 plus 600= 1080 health to kill one person. 480 health is realitic to pvp with.

if u want grind ur ass, go play wow, linage2, or something..

I'll tell you the number 1 reason why incresing the level cap is a horrid idea.

Ballance. Levels = attribute points. Can you even imagine how many skill points a level 40 would have (for example).

I.E I can get two skills up to 12 with all the skill points you have right now. That's 2 maxed out skills.

If the cap were raised to 40 i'd be able to cap out 4 skills, and if it was 50 I could cap out 5 freaking skills!

Solo farming builds would go out the roof. No longer would you have to worry about your attribute point spread, you could simply max almost every skill you have. An elementalist, for example, could go out and max:

    Fire
    Water
    Earth
    Air
    Energy storage.

or could even just do like:

    fire
    water
    earth
    energy storage
    healing prayers

They would be unstopable nearly! I'm not sure if the OP's noticed, but certain combos would destroy PvP in general and the PvE game. It's the same thing as having a monk who's maxed out on Divine Favor, Healing prayers, protection prayers and inspiration magic for energy. They'd be a crazy healer.

I just be happy with more PvE content....I suck at PvP!

I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.

Guild Wars is a game for ppl who actually have lives and if u aded more lvls it would take away the main reason it was made for I mean who really wants another game that takes away ur social life

Anet put the cap lvl 20 for 1 reason less grind

Well actually 2 reasons - I remember reading an article that talked about how a lot of the balance would go out of the game if the level was raised. Suddenly warriors and other high health chars would have a distinct advantage and GW would have to scale up spells and damage to keep up. You would have the same problem as WOW where even before epic gear is taken into account an average 60 warrior has a much higher survivability than 2-shot wonder mages.

I also like the feeling that even though my character is a hero with cool weapons and abilities, he's still just a mortal compared to level 28-30 dragons like Glint or Kunnavang.
