I love it and its my favorite MMO currently.  But it is not for everyone, I would suggest giving it a try.  There is a learning curve but if you hook up with some people they will help you get over it fast.  If you play allied tune ch10 and there will be some officers that can help you out usually.

uhm,  how can there be a learning curve,??=)

Isnt it a shooter game =?

It isn't as simple as that.  Took me a while to figure out exactly what was going on around me...

I remember the first time I spawned in as a sapper in a town under attack by enemy armor.  I crawled all the way up to a tank before I realised I didn't know the best spot to put the bomb.  I was clueless.  But I was immediately informed by somebody via chat...  "Sapper there by the tank.  Put your package right above the drive wheels".  I did so and ran and that tank blew up.  It was very exciting to crawl up next to a tank that was firing round after round.  Very scary.

There are a lot of little things that you just don't even know what is going on until you experience them and ask for help.  How to capture buildings.  What weapons to use on what vehicles.  Hw to use the vehicles, etc...

Sounds interesting.. is there a lot of fighting?  Or is it pretty barren?  Is the sound nice and do you have any good examples of in game shots?  I'm highly interested in wwiionline to cause I play day of defeat now.

I don't have any screenshots. I stopped playing a couple months ago. The great thing about it is you can spawn in at any depot owned by your side. So you can almost always find a spawn point that will take you right to the action. Or, if you spawn in as a pilot, you can fly your plane to the action pretty quickly. Or drive your tank... etc.

But, if you want to do something sneaky like start an attack at a city owned by the enemy, then you can get 8 or 9 people together, spawn in some infantry, a truck driver, and a tank and go start the first assault on an enemy city.

I only have a few screenshots of some navy action.  But the game is very populated in prime time but of course it is much less so during off hours.  Pretty much like any other MMO is, cept in WW2OL it is 99.9% pvp so when there are less people on it shows.  If you are interested in a free trial contact the company and see if they will hook you up with one.  If you get one you can look me up in game, name is Nelson.  name of my squadleader is Docwagon and im sure he could help to.  And supposdely as I said on ch10 for allies there are high command officers ready to help new players.  The game is at least worth a try.

Bf1942 is a quick-action arcade shooter. WWIIOL is a combined virtual WWII Battlefield, a mixture of a tank, flight, navy and infantry sim, all units played by 1 or 2 players, with hundreds or thousands online at the same time, in the same virtual world (Europe at 1/2 scale with over 400 modelled cities). Fighting goes 24/7 for weeks and months until one side finally wins! There are player-run High Commands for each side.

Vehicles are simulated in greater detail as in Bf1942 so You need to train  and practise using them, especially planes!

To get a full account and 30 days play time for only 9,99$ is a gift...I paid about 75$ for that game back in 2001 to get a copy here in Europe..now its all downloadable. Am still hooked to this game. The graphics may look old, but thats because of the great view distance. Atmosphere and sound are great!

Theres a great video about the game here:

And look up for WWIIOnline here in the games list and read through the player reviews there.

I played for a few months after WWII Online was just released.  It wasn't finished, and many things were broken, but I found the game to be fun and exciting.  It definitely had a steep learning curve back then, and I am sure with all the fixes and additions it has some now as well.  It is a shooter but I remember there was alot of strategy and teamwork involved.  Driving a tank at night with a whole platoon was intense, was it would be really short if we didn't have the correct recon, leadership, and coordination for the battles.  I would try it out again if I wasn't already playing two other MMORPGs.

Definitly worth it IMO, but each to his own.....enjoy whatever you do... but for learning curve, it is steep in order to get the most out of it. There are changes pending on the system, that should HELP players get into the action called 'brigade spawning' but if you have not played the game yet then this means nada to you.

BF1942 = fun but arcadish..sometimes when I die, I find myself reaching in my pocket for a quarter.

WWiionline - Fun, but a simulation.  The devs in this game focus more on the historical accuracy of weapons.  Rarely have I seen them respond to side imbalance issues.  Its not the point of the game.  They have stated as much themselves.  They are not trying to create a RedvsBlue game where everything is equal and only the uniforms differentiate.  They are focused on Simulation style play.  If you like that stuff, its a great game, played since release until recently.  I enjoyed it very much.

Just one of the many ways to enjoy and get in on the action.

On the 24th Feb, the RAF conducted major operations to thwart the Axis RD&P over a 24 hour window.
Useing channel 58, players were invited to join the Tossers Tuesday VII OP and aid the team to reduce the Axis RD&P from maximum output, maintain the efforts achieved delivering a sustained reduction in output.
For some of the squadrons participating in the OP for the first time, the players offered their time and services without question, and while the ground operations felt the brunt of the grey steel, the Axis factories felt the brunt of many many sorites.
Some of the facts and figures to note:
    • Axis RD&P was reduced from achieveing an output of 13% gain to 4% for a 24 hour period
    • BEF increased lead on RD&P from 41% to 53% and ArFr also increased as Axis ceased operations on the ArFr factories.
    • 48 sorties were flying to the factories over 24 hours, an average of 1 every 30 minutes.
    • Largest bomber/escort group flight was 16
    • Never was a front line airfield bomber used enableing CAP/CAS missions to continue.
    • Front line RAF bases were supplied as part of the OP with much needed CAS/CAP bombers and fighters.
    • In excess of 1,000 bombs were delivered.
    • In most cases, bombers were able to RTB for recycling from originating airfield INCREASEING bomber supply

Many thanks to the dedication of the 617 Bomber Squadron, the 60 and 61 Wing with the support of the SAFD, NTF and the many many players who steped up and tuned ch 58 and asked 'When is next flight forming?' and commenced supply runs to provide sufficient resources to maintain OP's.
    Good job guys
