hey i am a long time player of ALOT of mmorpg's and i have experienced most(if not all) of them in one way or another. now i am in a delimma.(PLEASE NOTE IF POSSIBLE CAN WE MAKE THIS A PEACEFUL TOPIC.no dissing other games. just facts please ^-^) i currently play wow because some of my rl friends like it.. its ok but to me its not captivating enough. i am strongly thinking about coming back to eq2 but i must first ask a few things.
1. i remember having a feeling that the world of eq2 was "too open". what i mean by this is that i could go several zones and not see a person. this could be a good thing but as far as the community aspect (which is MAJOR to me) it hurts.alot. so my first question. is the community a "community"? or just people who run by each other and not care too much. is there a big difference on more popular servers?
2. now i bought eq2 the first day it came out. and didnt like it that much. i came back after all the changes about classes (no archtypes, just pick your class and go) and i felt it was a completely different game. and i mean this as a GREAT THING. but has that feeling grown? have they changed more to make it better. i know i can read the post on eq2.com and i have, but i want to know how it is to experience it from the people who do. you guys!
3. i guess this kinda ties into the last question i asked... but are classes different enough to say they "feel" different and "play" different.... or is it just a few minor differences.. and whatever the answer how does the balancing of the classes feel.
well thats all. if you all dont mind could you reply to either my myspace page ( http://www.myspace.com/neocourtez)

I from today have left EQ2..
They have very bad Customer service..
The items you buy for character including Armour/Shields/Staffs/ all those types of things are
only either dropped by named npcs (hard to get) or made by crafters..
It cost alot of platinum to make stuff like that and u need to be rich in gaem to win in every pvp fight..
I had a fully twinked out lvl 33 gaurdian, i spend over 25 plat on him and soemtimes he would still get owned by lower lvls solo. The game isnt very ballanced for pvp.. way to many classes and groups really one other poffesions so much to get a good pvp group happening..
and also i got banned for saying something bd the one person who had contantly mnade bad remarks about me,..
It just says how childish some people can be inside the game even the GMs banning people without looking at logs..
I hope this info would help you correct your MMORPG path
Sorry the game disappoints.
That being said, I love the game. It's my favorite. The game is simply beautiful graphically. The zoning is annoying and its a memory hog unfortunately. But quests are absolutely everywhere. It's never a problem finding a group if you join a good guild, things like crafting have been made much easier with recent updates, I've never ever had trouble with customer service (every ticket I've ever sent in for a bug has been dealt with in under an hour by a GM), and it's updated constantly with new quests, items, and even frequent expansions and adventure packs.
However, for the PvP'er, this game is NOT about PvP. It exists but it's in no way, shape or form, the focus of this game. All PvP is consentual and you can only PvP on nonPvP servers with the /duel option or in arenas.
It may feel too open for you. It depends on your style of play. I tend to solo most often rather than begging people to group with me but mostly because that's my personality. While I do that, I chat on the chats. Or I don't. It's totally about how I feel at the time. I don't really RP (MMO's don't lend themselves to that) but I do play the quests and the story. It's part of the fun.
As for classes being different enough from each other, it's hard to say. I personally prefer a Paladin because it's the best of both worlds (healer and fighter) but that's my taste. They do still have their own little "niche".
I like the game. Download the trial and try it.
