uhh Smoker, right now Foms only roleplay is wars -nearly every faction seems to be at eachothers throats becuase they are all bored-
and Even the replies ingame and outofgame (forums) is mostly OOC (out of character) with LOL's and SEXYCHAT and the dreaded REP ME!. ive seen the constant ammount spam threads people keep making and the mods keep closing
maybe with MS2 there will be roleplay to show off what FOM can sometimes be about, but dont up and say right now that roleplay is in FOMl, cause its not! (unless everyone is roleplaying thier first day at a new school while after learning curse words)
I agree that there is a lot of OOC comments, and just plain spam on the forums. It is mostly coming from the CS stlyle players that have seen the content coming for MS2.... and are against it, because it will interfere with thier run and gun game.
I have to say that Role Playing is not for everyone... and that including it in the basic game structure is going to make those that dont like it, have to deal with it more often... and they are generally not happy with this. To each thier own... (I expect to see some drop in numbers when they start releasing MS2 content) but I also expect to atttract a lot more new players once that content is available.

I don't really see your point in how this video proves how crappy the combat system is. The video shows someone fighting in 3d person which i personally like and you don't find in many other games. The person in the video doesn't really know how to fight because he strifes all the time. And this game offers a more realistic way to strifing which is slower then normal walking and thus making you more vurlnerable.
So please tell us what you think is wrong in the combat system.
The combat system is pretty dope IMO. The longevitiy of battles prove who is more consistently skilled, not who can get more lucky, random, spraying shots at the head where you die instantly in other FPS games. The style of combat is reminiscent of samurai duels, consisting of defense techniques, and your ability to predict your opponent's moves.
I can give you more vidios about the game, where you see that the player make the content. That is actualy the whole point, the biggest part needs to come from the players. The Combat is not crab, I like it the way it is. You need more skills then in CS and that kind of combat system to get an kill tbh.

It is just an movie the comunity made for the fun of it. This shows an other kind of combat system then normaly and an comunity finding there own way of having fun. They way the game is meant to be played.
The concept of FoM is very cool and I would love to see a good MMO use some of the ideas of FoM: user generated missions, politics, rp, all PvP. That being said, I am enraged at the fact that I paid money to test this game out. It was HORRIBLE! There are way too few people, too many factions, all conflicted, and absolutely nothing to do.
You cant have a user-based, zero content game WITHOUT USERS!!!! There arent enough users for the concept to work, and there never will be since anyone (like myself) who joins is going to quit almost immediately. This game should get a MUCH lower rating.
This game is awesome but it wasnt ready for p2p. Combat is pretty unique and awesome but when I played in beta not many people were RP'ing. Anyways, I hoped that they would put it back in open beta and accept donations while they get their junk fixed. That aint happenin.

The person in the video doesn't really know how to fight because he strifes all the time. And this game offers a more realistic way to strifing which is slower then normal walking and thus making you more vurlnerable.

I've been looking for a new game, and I remembered FoMK, so I also went on youtube and watched some PvP videos... and I'm definitely not even going to try this game.

I've been playing the Planetside free trial, and well, it can be pretty hard to kill people sometimes. But if you put half a clip of rifle rounds into one person, or shoot someone at point blank range with an assault shotgun 5 times, they die. that's just how shooter games are supposed to be... I also noticed the guy in the video was just repeatedly using auto-healing medkits on himself WHILE SHOOTING. that's a pretty big game flaw. you can use meds in planetside, but they don't help much and you can only use one every once in a while.

You can automatically see that bullets don't do enough damage. Hmm well yes it "increases longevity" of the battles, of course, because it takes 80 bullets to kill someone (unless you're ganking someone with crappy armor I bet), but why is this a problem? Well, it eliminates a lot of the aspects of what a shooter game should be.
1. It highly reduces the effectiveness of stealth combat. Let's say I'm the same level as that guy in that video, with the same armor/guns and everything, and I come up behind him and start shooting him in the back. In other games, he'd be dead, because he wasn't watching his back/I used stealth. But in this game it seems, he'll just have 94 HP as opposed to my 100 HP. Ridiculous.
2. It highly reduces the effectiveness of guerilla tactics. If I'm at the corner of an L-shaped hallway, peeking around the corner, and I see someone down at the very end of the hallway, normally I could use distance to my advantage and hide behind the corner of the hallway bend. Let's say I do that in this game.... I could peek around the corner, hiding 1/2 of my body to reduce damage and start sniping him with an assault rifle. But by the looks of that video, he'd have about, oh 94 HP by the time he runs over to me.
I'm a big fan of FPS/shooters... and the way I look at it, in most FPS games offer a variety of ways to fight, making the game fun. You can sneak around and hide in bushes and snipe people when they dont expect it, or hide behind a wall or some crates to avoid being hit, or simply rely on your aim 100%. It appears as if the only option in FOMK is to rely on aim and use medkits during battle, and rely on the damage of your high level weapon. It's already not hard to aim, you point at the enemy and hold down your lmb... therefore higher level (rank, same thing) wins. No tactics, no stealth, higher level wins, just like any other mmo. Nah I wont be playin this.

You're stupid. If all it took was one headshot, then people could just pull out their gun and kill you instantly when you least expected. With the way the combat system currently is, it allows people with consistency, skill, and tactics to win fights.
Would be the most boring game if you get killed in 2 seconds to be honest.
Also, about the RP, with the introduction of civilian clothing I do believe RP will be returning to FoM when more players return to the the milestone 2 patch installments. The larger the playerbase, the more RP opportunities that will be available.

You're still failing to prove me wrong. You're saying if it just took one headshot to kill, people could kill you when you least expected. Well, Yeah. That's the POINT of stealth and tactics - To overcome your enemy through planning and intelligence instead of brute force/power (higher damage gun/most bodyarmor will win if the game is just about brute force). A good FPS player is away of his surroundings at all times, maybe this game caters to a less tactical crowd?
You mention "consistency", "skill", and "tactics". "consistency" is just your way of saying fights last really long. "skill" is basically aim, which yes, of course, this is in any shooter, I agree. But please watch that video again and explain to me where anyone uses any "tactics". Or any video. They're both strafing and moving exactly the same, (in random directions), and constantly shooting (or missing), at the same rate, in other words, they are completely relying on their bodyarmor and firepower, and just holding down the fire button.
If you can find me a video where actual "tactics" (like you said) are shown being used effectively in FOMK (not a guy sneaking around, trying to use stealth, shooting someone once in the back and then rushing forward into a point-blank 5 minute bullet-sprayfest, I'll admit that I was wrong and might even give the game another try.
The closest thing Ive seen is someone attempting to throw a grenade up onto a catwalk where enemies/teammates were all randomly shooting each other (not very smart, wouldnt he damage his teammates also?), but the thing is, the grenadier only threw the grenade because no one currently saw him... He didnt, for example, get shot at, and run behind a crate, and throw a grenade over it at the enemy.
1. There is no recoil. even though your reticle blooms out while moving, anything in the middle of it is getting hit (watch the bullet trails)
2. Close quarters combat is a mess, with people using the drug Biphetamine(sp) thier stamina the whole time running/jumping around like a monkey will not go anywhere (this is fom combat.. people jumping around like idiots firing shots in your general direction (tactics?.. nope)
3. You use ENORMOUS(sp) ammounts of bullets/energy to take someone down (or be downed).
4. EXPLOITS!!!!.. wall exploiting (shooting others through walls /corners of walls) is rampant.
5. On top of it taking large emounts of ammo for RP's sake to make the combat slower, the guns also shoot very slow (might not be all of them though, they did a weapon revamp and kinda gave each weapon its own characteristics).. but on top of the fire times being slow, this doesnt help with the movement system and lag (friendly fire is a very comon accurance) ====
Tactics can still exist though, but they are more combat tactics then shooting tactics.
That video only shows a quater of whats going on, besides its some noob who's playing.
FDC use a lot of tactics, including formations, and stances. We also have a mix of medics and commanders for extra support and intelligence. In combat the Commanding Officer would call on in vent who to tag and take out first, everyone would then go and attack that single person to take him down as quickly as possible. The primary targets are always the weaker (unarmour/clone warrior), since they can be just as dangerous.
Never played FoM but that video does look a bit lacking. But from what I gather this game is more about roleplaying than being a shooter type game. Too bad there isn't a trial to check it out.

That's a little rude, considering how much I did for the BOS in beta and as a rank 5 in retail helping out all of the little newbies that all of the "mid class veterans" ignored. I will be back, I am thinking of coming back in february, hopefully it is fun.. If it hasn't been canceled by then.
