I havent played SWG since previous to the CU. I quit back when JTL was released. I have the origional game disks. Is that enough to play the game with today, or do i need to get the expantion packs inorder to play with everyone else?

Nah, you don't have to get the expansions. In fact, wait until you're sure you like the way the game is going before you spend extra money:) Just a warning, though: You're gonna have more than a couple hours worth of patches if you are using the pre-cu game disks;)
You can play in te orginal worlds, but Mustafar and Wookie World are part of expansions. But the PVP areas on Rori, Talus, Naboo and Corellia would be there.
But to get from lvl 80 to lvl 90, Mustafar quest are very helpful.
But yes you could play with most of the people, they seem to be in the PVP areas or hanging around Tat or Naboo cantinas. On Corbantis, there are about 20-30 people in Theed's cantina last night. Seems as much dueling is happening in the Cantina as in front of starport now , lol. But you are looking at some serious patching=).
Which Server are you?

While it isn't really a requirement, brain damage will greatly increase your enjoyment of SWG.
My advice: follow ur instincts and ignore all the flaming trolls on this forum.
Well, my account was closed on June 27 I believe (or maybe a couple days before that) which was 3 exactly years after I opened it. I last logged in a few days before that to empty a couple vendors so I could remove my houses. The only things the game has now that it didn't have then is the Jedi and Bounty Hunter expertise systems and the Restuss battlefield/commendation grind. None of those things added any sort of fun or excitement to the 'game'. As such, I feel fully confident in the accuracy of my assessment.
My advice for anyone looking into trying out the current SWG 'game' is to try World of Warcraft first. Why play a crappy and bug riddled knock off when you can play the superior original version. If it is the Star Wars part that is the main draw to you, there are several Star Wars games that are both more fun and actually feel like Star Wars.
My way?
Well I pulled some "marked out" clearance SWG CD's outta a Wal-Mart dumpster the other day and had a good time

Well I installed it. It took several hours to patch. Then I started the game. It didnt cost me anything to get into the game, I dunno why, but I dont have a subscription and it worked.
The game is was different. The FPS style is ok, from all the constant rants about the game I thought it was going to be alot worse. But I thought it was pretty fun, although nothing like the game I remembered.
It started me off at level 80. I chose to be a BH, probly a mistake. I had alot of old armor and weapons still in my pack and other stuff. Including a crapload of force crystals, and 7 million credits.
Im playing on the radiant server. When I logged in I was naked, and I just saw a glimps of myself in the air and someone was commenting on how I was floating. Then I had to select my class while I could hear a stormtrooper blasting away at me.

Beat me to this by 2 hours.
Score 2 more trolls!
I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever
