Does anyone know how to mine?

in Final Fantasy XI
I have heard of people mining and they say that you can make a lot of gil doing it does anyone know because I couldn't figure it out. Its probably something simple but I still want to know thanks.

    Get a mining pickaxe. Go around a mine of some sort and when you see something named a mining point, click on it.
