What is your favorite battle scene in a movie/ tv series???

Mine is 100% the scene in the HBO series ROME, episode 11 where Titus pullo gets thrown in the arena and after being insulted a bunch of times just plain WTF PWNS about 6 gladiators and then out comes some huge guy with the most evil looking mace I ever seen! He is about to impail Titus when his old-school war buddy jumps down and challenges the giant and chops his fookin leg off then impails the giant guy in the most grusome way, right down the side of his neck! If you havnt seen it I suggest watching Rome the whole damn series is amazing.DOnt mess with Vorenus!

The one's from Ghandi.  True, Ghandi's side didn't actually fight.  But, it made for an interesting variation of battle.

Well I dont agree with your battle scene choice I do like your quote under your avatar, its the best I seen so far lol. LOTR was a epic battle no doubt but I like the real in your face Braveheart style fighting where you get to see alot of blood and guts and to me that just shows how real combat used to be.

The whole of Return of the King :P

Also, Gladiator - the Gauls and the arena scenes.

And, Braveheart - all of the remarkable tactics etc. shown throughout.

The Epic Battle where Peter Griffin and the Chicken Time chicken battle it out in Family Guy... Best fight sceen ever!!! Can be seen here.

Other then that, I really liked the last sceen in Firefly, with all the ships kinda aiming for each other, the opening sceen in SW Ep 3 was purty. The best though, not sure.

I think some votes have to go towards the openning sceens from Saving Private Ryan.  I mean that was some crazy $h!t...I really can image our grandfathers and fathers (for you older members) having to face that kind of carnage.

Third. Also it was convienent it was at the very beginning. Watch the first 15 minutes and turn off the movie. You saw the only part people will remember. And whatever the men were made of during that time period, I must be made out of it's nerf equivalent.

The End of Serenity- When you have hours and hours(Firefly) to get to know and care about characters and you are dealing with Joss Whedon anything could happen. I had my fingers dug in the entire time.

The End of Nemesis- Also because I knew the characters from a 100+ hours and knew someone was going to die but not who.

End of Open Range- Great Western Shoot out and I was convinced someone would die during this one too.

I too loved the Gladiator scene in Rome. Damn that was dramatic.

Troy: Achilles' fight up the steps  to the temple of Apollo

Gladiator: Initial fight between the Roman legions and the germanics, first fight in the coliseum

    LOTR: battle for Helm's deep

    original SW: Battle of Yavin

New SW: Obiwan vs Anakin (ignoring some of the between fight acting)

Three more of my favorite fight scenes that I have not seen mentioned yet:

    1) Kill Bill - When she takes on the Crazy 88, not only was it an amazing scene, but it was shot so well.  Using black and white as well as the shadowed blue at the end, in my opinion, allowed you to watch the fight and not get turned off by the crazy amounts of blood actually being shed...

    2) Monty Python In Search Of The Holy Grail - "Its a mere flesh wound" ....need I say more

    3) Army Of Darkness - Ash takes on his "Mini-Me" reflections....

I mean non of you says a bac scen. It's tough to point out one. All of them is significant for its own movie.

One part that I also like is in Saving Private Ryan, when they are in the city and one in the team uses his sniper, you just see a blood splatter :P nice shooting there.

And continue to post here. Love reading about it! :D

Hamburger Hill's main assault was an excellent depiction of the sacrafice needed to win a battle, just a brilliant bit of war coreography.

I was actually impressed with the city siege in Kingdom of Heaven too.

If we are talking strictly medieval and pre gun type battles, then I go with Braveheart...if we are talking war movies, I would say Blackhawk down is about as accurate depiction of a skirmish that you are going to get.

little known factoid...the battle of sterling in Braveheard was actually the Battle of Sterling Bridge in real life...where Wallace's forces annihilated the British Northern Army as they crossed a bridge, it wasn't a true engagement as seen in the movie...it was also where the British learned that Wallace cared very little for what they considered "honorable" warfare :)
