I thought there were a lot of positive impressions of the game around Beta in the RV forum here so quite surprised that it has attained such a bad rating. Sure, its no generalistically attractive game but for a niche audience I thought it seemed to deliver to a certain number of people playing the game. As to it's graphics, I do think graphics isn't that major especially when you look at the success of something like ATiTD, but the graphics in this game do look a little bit simplistic by those videos. Ah well I guess they had nowhere near the budgets of some of the other games so it maybe not that bad an attempt of a Rome game.

Actually i had a strong support for small time companies .But you have to have a good stab at it even if you got a small budget.
I recall when i told ppl in EQ1 i was going to play a game called DAoC made by mythic.People said "mythic who?Have they even made a single game before".Same went for games like AO.Same for minons of mirth.
Now this games did not have some big name publishers behind them ready to influx money as they needed but they all came out as descent games.RV looks and feels like something made on pocket money of a few guys over the 5 years or so it been in development.
RV and DnL are reasons i have lost faith in small gaming companies trying to break into mmorpg.

hmm true though I think Mystic had made a game before, likewise the makers of AO. Minions of mirth I agree was very impressive though I do think it already had cemented part of it's appeal by copying large parts of EQ. Roma Victor is really quite an ambitious offering in comparison. But yeah agreed it is a shame, and yeah releases by smaller companies people are going to look with a lot more skepticism now.

I can't believe you hardcore pvp'ers! You have been crying for a hardcore pvp game and when an awsome one finaly comes out all you do is put it down because of the bad graphics. So what if it looks like a bunch of men running around in thier Mom's panties with mop handles for weapons, it has full pvp. Also if you grief people too much you will be crucified, what more could you ask for? So what if the game lags, if you can't pvp with high pings and rubber banding then you aren't hardcore. I like it when I attack and my character doesn't react for like 3 or 4 seconds, it give me time to decide what attack to use next. I can't wait until I get invisibility and can duel wield heat seaking missile launchers. They do need to add more races to the game, like ninjas, pirates and jedi. That wud be kool.

Asheron's Call 1 had better graphics in 1999 than Roma Victor in 2006. I know graphics aren't everything but come on. Those characters look like rigor mortis has set in.

Seriously, I am amazed at just how bad RV looks overall, though the fan defense of the game over on the RV forums makes it sound worse than anything BuZZ could say about it.
If I wanted to live with a bunch of middle aged looking men wearing baggy underpants who poke each other with pointy sticks, I'd move into the local trailer park!
Seriously though... that was terrible. I actually dozed off and dreamt of paint drying... it seemed kind of exciting in comparison.
