I think its funny when you say taht WoW is too carebear lol.. Made me realize that everyone complains about WoW for two reasons:
1. Its carebear 2. Its not designed for the casual player
Well... you may have noticed that those two kinda interfere with each other. If it were more geared towards casual, hardcore gamers would claim that its too carebear, but if it were more geared towards hardcore gamers, many casual players would claim the game is too difficult and designed for hardcore gamers.

You know Ragnarok Online? Remove the Fun of RO. Tada, you now have ROSE. a medicore grind mmorpg, with horrible 3D graphics. I wish more companies would follow this rule, if you can't make a decent 3D game, stick to 2D.
I generally have liked all the Mmo's that came out except Underlight, DAOC,DnL,Eq2 and M59. Other then those I found something to enjoy in all the rest of the games. I fell in love with the simplicity and fun of WoW. I loved the world and options of AO. I liked the world of EQ1 and the people. Liked the world and sandbox feel of Uo. The list goes on and on. Oh I forgot, I didnt much like Horizons because it was broke back when I played it. Currently I play COH and I love it. Its the most fun Ive had in any MMO ever. I can literally be anything I want to be. Currently Im waiting for HJ which seems to be alot like a medival version of CoH. Ill try all the other games to of course.
EQII: soooo boring and let me tell you about the grind!!!!!! I was grinding like I've never ground before. The only thing I liked about it was the concept of interactive crafting.

I might tell you that the fun part of ROSE has changed a BIIIIIIIG lot the last couple of weeks/months try trial :P
Well I've played a TON of bad MMORPGs but most of them were free and/or crappy asian cloned games so I'm not gonna mention them... instead I'm going to say Lineage 2 is the worst IMO. I say this because Lineage 1 was my first MMORPG and I loved the game, it was an absolute blast for many years, I had such high hopes for Lineage 2 but the game was nothing but a boring grind, riddled with bots... it definitely did not capture the spirit of classic Lineage and felt totally different in every way.
I would kill to see a Lineage 3... made in the mold of Lineage 1... 2-D isometric graphics(though obviously alot better than Lineage 1), similar gameplay, more focused on the siege system but have a realm rank reward system like DAOC built into it... god that would rock.
Ok I have to revise my previous statment that EQ2 is the worst mmorpg I've played. The new worst mmorpg award goes to Archlord which I played last night for the first time.
