Is Final Fantasy XI,worth my time and resources?

I'm looking at purchasing Final Fantasy XI,thing is I read that it's a waste...is it true or not. I need a few people to give me some advice here. I don't want to be stuck playing a crappy game.

    I personally think it's crap, so I'd suggest not playing it.

    Best MMOs - RuneScape and WoW
    Crappiest MMOs - Hero Online, SWG, DDO
    MMO's played - RS, WoW, GW, EVE, AO, PlanetSide, Jumpgate, Face of Mankind, MapleStory, SO, Liniege 1 & 2, City of Villains, Flyff, Realm Online, SWG, Seed, Sims Online, City of Heroes.

    It's a really fun game in theory, but all the gil farmers and such make the game unplayable. You can never get enough money to catch up to people who have been playing for years unless you buy gil. And in order to play with most groups, you NEED the best equipment or you just get passed over for someone else.

    I loved playing this game until the economy got screwed up.

    Thanks i'll take both your point of views into account...it seems like a crappie game after all...i'm heavily disappointed at the fact that the game is a screw up...why don't they take some gil out of the economy?

    They have taken some recources out of the game, and banned many gil farmers. most of high lvl equipment got 50% cheaper.

    It is not a crappie game, some might dislike the fact that most of the things you do is in groups. If u cant stand that then dont buy the game. But if you like beeing in groups lvling and helping eachother with missions&quests i suggest FFXI.

    It's a great game if you have the time. I been playing for 3 years and havent even tryed most things yet, there is just so much to do. Everything in this game takes time and help but overall its an amazing game.
