I am just blown away that you are actually complaining that they won't allow people to harass each other. I am glad that not enough people feel the same way for us to have to worry about the devs listening to you on the subject.

I wish to play AoC for some epic battles, commeradery and some questing fun in the Conan way. Perhaps a little taunting thrown in after I gut someone with my blade. But that's as far as I will go. I refuse to persue someone and give them a hard time. Especially if I prove that I'm stronger than them in battle. I've met some real sob's in games before. Hunting and intimidating newbies. Killing them as they respawn. Making the game unpleasant for them. If that's what you want then more power to yah.

A game does not need language rules. If some immature kiddy is having a go or saying something you consider inappropriate then what you need is an ignore key that blocks your reception of any typing or speech from the kiddy. Many games already have this.
An ignore button and a facility to report serious harassment is all that is required in any game. This way censorship is up to the individual which is how it should be.

I REALLY hope AoC is not a "carebear" game. i think the people who dont want open PvP have lots of games to choose from now. I would really like to see this one cater for a more old skool PvP style of gameplay.
I think from reading the AoC info so far that the devs have thought of more or less everything to make it accessible to people while still retaining a sharp edge. Only time will tell but I have a good feeling about this one.

I don't think AoC will be carebear. It sounds to be more hardcore and a lot more based on skill PvP then regular PvP seen in MMORPGs.
Even the priest will be able to get into the PvP action, it's going to be awesome.

So as long as everyone behaves "M" there should be not problems. Mind you I still stand by my ignore button recommendation and I feel that the game should have a built in "M" checker that immediately bans anyone using kiddy language like "L33t" for 24 hours and doubles this on every subsequent offence (or sends them to bed early without supper).

It sounds like they are trying to make sure they have options for both types of player... I don't know why anyone would have a problem with that, but I am often surprised to find that some people do.
