I don’t know why I thought of this and I am sure that others have thought of it and posted about it, but if not then take a gander. There is no doubt that there is a huge abundance of Jedi in the game right now, hopefully some measure may be taken in the future to address that but who knows, anyways with respect to Crafters, I was wondering if it would be good to give the Crafters the ability to use skill points to not only be able to do all the other things that Crafters do, but to also be able to have the option to develop their own abilities to create special equipment for Jedi specifically, and for Smugglers Specifically and so on for each profession. With in that specialty there are more abilities to branch out and become even more specialized for diversity. Say one Crafter make a really good blaster that can do this and give you this advantage, but this other crafter also makes really good blasters too but his has a different type of advantage and it maybe worth while to purchase his then the other one, that kind of thing. And of course the Crafter can develop into not just focusing on profession specific equipment for just one profession they can branch out and do others. Anyways I am sure most of you got far better ideas then that, so let me know what they are. Bring it on down now.

If you read through the "Of Traders, Crafters, Merchants, and Confectionaries: Part 2" thread http://soe.lithium.com/swg/board/message?board.id=swggpdiscussion&message.id=1074786 begun on 8/18/2006 by Chrysalide, which has to date over 2300 player responses and no response or conversation from SOE staff, you will see that crafters would love to make profession specific clothing, armor, weaponry, foods, anything at all that ties them into the Galactic civil war.
It should be noted that a large portion of that thread is filled with trolling and decay posts, off topic, but not so well moderated as these forums are.
Guess we have to wait til Crafter Expertise to see that kind of thing. But as a trader I am looking forward to it.

we cant have specialized crafters all over the place? cmon what will jedi do now? PAY THEM?? who in their rightfull mind thing that a jedi, a god will have to pay a lower class inferior bein as a crafter... they are all powerfull server gods. they answer to no one!

now on a serious note: this is a fantastic idea! more specialisation = more diversity = more player interaction between eachother. this is how the game started, where we depended on crafters. this idea will get SWG in the right path to get back to the way it was.
but looking at the SWG idea forums, it does not look so well. they seem to be making them more again of a solo class. with useless but funky abilities.
if only people at SOE would read/listen to the playing comunity.

it added a great deal of interaction between engineers and smugglers and spies (creating fake IDs an computer hacking devices, ect)

I see where you are going and this would work for Weap/ Armor because those are really all you need to spec for proff.
A D18 as a bad example becomes a smugglers only pistol and the crafter can make those better than any other weap.
The problem I see right now is the cl factor. A cdef cl1 caps at 60 dps. That's it. After 60 it becomes a cl2 gun. If there was a way to add a special to the gun or something with an ammo or charge factor, make it exclusive to crafter and intergrate a proff spec, that would work. Something that allowed crafters to add thier touch without impacting cl and dps. Figure out how to keep a cl1 from using a cl90 ammo, maybe isolate certain ones for given guns and this would draw demand for crafters.
Arch is easy. Let them make warehouses that give more storage. SWG solves a space problem, we don't have to dump 5 Medium naboo to store junk, everyone is happy. I would like to have replica abilities too. A big ass warehouse and a fleet of Tie and X-wing to show the customer my ships. A house with a back yard that you can add stuff in. No need for a city to drop a garden.
Food and tailor is easy enough. Though I don't see Tailor getting any love. The one thing they could do for them is let them make Jedi armor, maybe with contribution from armor smith parts. I don't know if that will happen.
