Distinguishing features of new MMORPGs

I'm currently thinking about starting a "career" in an MMORPG again. I've played UO, DAoC and some betas before, but I'm not up to date concerning the new releases. So can anyone sum up the most distinguishing features of the newest and best new MMORPGs for me? It would save me lots of time searching through FAQs and forums of all the games. Thanks in advance! :)

if you give us some info on what you like in the games and what you are looking for it well be a bit easyer to give you the names.

but i can see you ahve played 2 PvP oriented games UO and DAoC, and if you are looking for PvP you shot proberly look into Lineage 2 or Guild Wars

if it is not PvP then you have Everquest 2, City of Heros and World of Warcraft.

there is some talk about PvP in WoW but i have read littel info about it so i cant say anything

True, I don't like it if games forbid PvP, but it it doesn't have to be the center element in the game. For me the most important aspect is social interaction, preferably in a world that allows PvP and otherwise does not limit the player very much. A complete lack of crafting would be a negative point as well...

However, what are the particularities of Lineage 2 and Guild Wars? What do they focus on and what new features do they have?

Lineage 2 seems to have meaningful PvP. Your guild gets to own castles and play a role in the economics of the surrounding area, etc. PvP is allowed anywhere, without any level limitations, but there are penalties associated (check out the FAQ at http://lineage2.universalrealms.net/ ). Seems like a promising game to me. Crafting is really limited though - only dwarves following a certain class tree can craft.

As for Guild Wars, I haven't checked it out yet.
