Ok, did any one else collect pre-nerf melons?

chlaoschlaos Member Posts: 1,118
One of my many fetishes in the true SWG was collecting rarities.   Throughout my playing time, I developed an affinity for melons, especially of the original variety.   When I quit a day after the nge went live, I had approximately 45 pre nerf melons that I had collected and paid thru the nose for, in additon to about 70 regular melons.   I made a small forest of trees that i placed the melons on in my zoo of be pets....   umm...anyone else do anything kinda psychotic like that?

i never collected anything like that but i did have an estate on a small island south of keren, naboo. i spent a TON of time decorating it. that was my favorite thing about swg.. i had my own personal island. huge houses.. a ton of stuff. i wonder if it is still there..

i also decorated my guild cantina religiously. when i was hologrinding tailor i once crafted about 30 or so red robes with the name of every male player in the guild as the item name and about 10 of those healer robes for the girls. it was tedious but it looked badass in the end. :)

sorry it's been a while since i've played.. can't remember the exact names of everything :P

Ive forgotten alot of the names myself.   But what you describe is similar to what i mean, something you did religiously or compulsively.   Mine was collecting things and shopping  YAY...  Along with the melons i collected, I believe, every kinda critter that could be made by a BE....    Additionally, I bought and displayed every rarity I could lay my hands on....    This was probably my favorite mini-game...

you know one of my favorite things to do when i was bored in swg was just to wander around into public houses and just look at the crazy decorating people did. it was shocking! you could also check out their prized items on display..

i know when a lot of people left on my server they made public buildings with all of their in game accomplishments on display.. pearls.. lightsabers.. rare DoT weapons.. their guild uniforms, etc.. too bad a lot of that stuff is probably useless now? i don't really know haven't played nge.

but anyways.. yeah people put some serious time and dedication to their hobbies! for a while the devs put in a lot of stuff specifically for decorators and even had a decorating competition at one point. :)

I didn't collect melons but I did horde those tiny, stuffed banthas. I had my main house decorated with them as well as all the crystals I had looted.

I loved looking around and seeing what people had done myself.  I loved shopping in pre cu too, i guess its the girl in me, but i could spend hours on end traveling thru the galaxy lookin for treasures in peoples shops.  I did my best at decorating but I never really had the patience to do the intricate stuff that I saw in some people's houses.  I actually hired an interior decorator to help me with some stuff in my zoo.... I hope its stil there.

OOOHHHH... i forgot about those cute little banthas.  I had a bunch of those too, and a collection of crystals that I started before anybody really knew what to do with them lol.....   Never got the prodigious amount of crystals though that i acquired with the melons.  There was something about the pre nerf melons that got me off,  probably just the inside joke that everyone made about them ....like they were something special ...LOL

Me and my wife had 2 large houses, a guild hall, and 7 small houses full of loot. One for space items, one for weapon components (tissue, geonosian cubes, crystals) one for weapons and armor, one for clothes, one for food and drink, one for a vendor, and one for random loot like schematics. We both had our own large house to live in which was full of stuff too, as well as a Guild Hall which was full of stuff like rugs, gong, tables, and whatnot.

Hell yeah, thats what im talking about.  Across the two main galaxies I played in (Sunrunner and Gorath)  I had a guild hall that was dedicated to nothing but my crafting supplies, a house full of nothing but be pets and jungle like decortions, another  house with my loot, weapons, armor, and other collectibles that also served as my shop, a large house that was decorated more in a "livable" way, and numerous storage facilities....   LOL....  God i miss my stuff..   how sick is that?   lol

I never did get my hands on any melons, but i did have a house full of rare collectalbe items on rori that I was quite proud of.   And like someone else said, I also spent many hours traveling around looking at other people's houses and shops.

Its too bad the game is unplayable.

holocrons - Jedi and Sith.  Started collecting them preCU, even though I had no plans on using them for unlocking Jedi.  Just kept acquiring them, don't even know how many I finally had.  Kept them in storage packs in my vendors.

I was an armor guy. I had collected tons of armor suits, through loots, amazing random-vendor buys, boredom-fed shopping sprees, and just "normal" gameplay (I never bothered repairing my armor, as I had the worst luck ever). I kept them in various backpacks and bags until JTL came and I got myself a luxury cruiser. I didn't bother with a house because I didn't wanna bother with the fees, but anyway, I had suits of armor sprawled around my ship ranging from the old-school marauder (an awesome vendor buy, don't think the guy knew what he had), to tantel with lightsaber protection (kinda dates me huh?), to chitin with outrageous acid protection, and many other rare and odd armors that wouldn't have much practical use ingame.

I'm amazed, in a good way, at the house decor I've seen in Galaxies.

On TC there is an excellent 'bantha cult shrine' and at one time there was an, uhm, adult theme dungeon. I've seen some excellent alters and meditation rooms, some light, some very, very dark.

A house with the most detailled kitchen ever.  Loot item utensils, tongs, jugs, bottles, etc. Some crafted items renamed, like a gen crafting tool called 'transistor radio'.  Looked great.

Unfortunatley I lost most of the screenies I'd taken over the past 2+ years when my HD went west.

I'm gathering stuff for a Halloween themed room just now. We'll see if I get round to finishing it on time, lol.

I used to try to put one sight-gag in each of my homes.

One of the current ones is the CU "Loyalty" plaque burning in my fireplace.

I had a weapons shop on Sunrunner.   I built every weapon that was in the game and placed it on the wall in a small house.  Each wall had a different selection of weapons, Melee, 2 Handed, 1 Handed, Fist, Ranged etc.. I had counters a collection of holo's and these were the holo's that didn't spin Liked those the best.   I even went as far as getting a Juke Box every day and afternoon to provide music when you came into the shop.

I did it up right! As soon as NGE hit ... WORTHLESS!

I had at least 500 customers a day run into that shop had name recognition on my arms Vabibii Arms.  NGE hit Sales went to 20 a day maybe if I was lucky because of the Vehicle stuff I had in the shop.  Master Artisan was lucrative too.  Master Artisan, Master Weaponsmith, Master Merchant, with a small amount of Jedi as in Hiding making my way through the galaxie waiting for the time to come out of hiding.

So NGE wow can't do that template see ya SOE.

    okay Rant off :) lol

Speaking of collections, am I going mad or was there once a quest/loot reward of a Krayt skeleton hand that you could display on a wall? I know I saw them in a few cantinas but I could have sworn I saw it in a house or two?

There was a skull that you got from doing a hunters quest (i believe), but dont know about a hand.  I had one in my shop with crystals in the eyes and a droid in his mouth, kinda cute

Hey Ik.   Your shop was very well done.  Very detailed, unlike mine which was more like an antique shop with stuff just piled up randomly....    Your house had a lot of detail to it too, I remember your kitchen with all the utensils and such.   I never had the patience to do all that, most of my collections were just piled up or even just in storage vendors awaiting the day I finally got around to decorating....  Oh well, guess that day will never come.
