I played DAOC way back before mytic nerfed zerkers. i can;t pin-point the excate time that wwas but lets just say i started playing DAOC a LONG time ago. and continued up untill 4-5 months before the release of Darkness Rising. Now i loved wut DAOC was way back when it was still cool to go PVE with a group of ppl you know nothing about and lvling up with them, and ending up making really nice firends. and Not to just go Task Dungen your ass off.
I Currently play WoW and i am happy with it but every now and then i look over at my Stacks of Cds and pull out DAOC and think about reinstalling it, then i remember wut the game has become.
Although i like WoW, I miss what DAOC offerd as a MMORPG. and i was just wondering Is there currently or under development game that will take me back to what DAOC WAS.

omg i still hate albs
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
DAoC is not that bad right now, its just different There are many free shards of DAoC around, maybe one of the is in the OF stage =p
I played DAOC from its release and kept with it until WoW came out. I played WoW for a good while, leveling a few toons to 60, but got pretty bored with the lack of end-game PvP. Grinding battlegrounds and waiting in queues just didn't compare to running an 8 man group and wiping out people whenever you wanted. I eventually had enough of WoW and got DAOC back out, as did a few of my friends, and enjoyed it for the time being. I still dont' miss WoW. I do miss DAOC.
I've since moved to Australia and, since I couldn't bring my system with me, am saving to build a game-worthy system here. But from everything I've read (and I've read a lot), if you miss DAOC RvR (minus the albs...no one misses them ), Warhammer looks like a breath of fresh air. Mind you it doesn't come out til late '07 so it's still a bit early to tell and there's little class information available at the moment (I think only 6 class descriptions right now, but I've looked into the TT game it's based on and it looks like it has a lot of potential class/balance-wise.
Anyway, that's my vote coz I feel like I'm in the same boat as you are. Hope you find somethin. Cheers.

WAR is going to be great for sure, but not in the sense you are talking about, grouping up, exploring etc.
possibly vanguard might be what you are looking for, its more group oriented so they say..
and o yeah abaout shards it is no fun cos there is free level and everyone want to be 50 on start BD dont have pets ,,, and mostry sux cos there is more noobs than u can imagine bcouse daoc is not for every1 it is a most complex mmorpg that was on market + with low grind lvl, crafting, raids, rvr, pvp, whooping albs, kickin albs, bustin albs, killing albs and whole a lot more things to doo with albs

Really looking at the two, the only likeness WoW and Warhammer share are in their graphics. Graphics based on Warhammer's game art that preceded the first Warcraft RTS. Aside from that, Warhammer has no similarities to WoW at all at this point. Classes are faction specific and the way the skillsets are being developed your character will be customizable to any situation, doing away with the need for the dreaded respecs. The leveling system (if you want to call it that) is complately different, as is the methods for acquiring gear, gold, etc. Warhammer will make it possible to level your character and gear them up solely in RvR if that be your choice. The end-game focus in Warhammer will be similar to that of DAOC, whereas Warcraft's endgame is really a joke...unless you enjoy the monotonous mass-raiding of pve dungeons. So as far as it being a "WoW clone", that's just off base. And while it's not going to be a DAOC clone either, I do think Mythic is taking what they've learned over the years with DAOC and putting it to use in WAR's RvR system.

actualy i have to agree. i have played them all too and old school swg is one of the best games ever. 100% the best crafting system, and so much to do besides kill thing it was unreal.
and DaoC is the best mmorpg every made. it had its problems, sure but still i agree its the best.
Well, one must really be an idiot to call War Hammer a "WoW" clone... Go play in the traffic because you don't know what you're talking about and polluting forum boards with your petty ignorance.
The "only" similarities between WoW and War Hammer is the graphics. But guess what: WoW is the rip off here, not the other way around. The art work of war hammer existed long before the first warcraft came out on the market as a RTS. I would go as far as saying that starcraft graphics are also a rip off of war hammer 40k. (the futuristic version)
Now for the rest, there will be absolutely no similarities. The RvR of War Hammer is going to own WoW pvp BIG TIME. Daoc already owns WoW for the RvR and PvP aspect and the discrepancy will only increase with War.
War Hammer will be one of those very few MMO to reach a million subscriber in it's first year, and half of them will prolly come from WoW players who are bored to tears with their carebare bullshit.
What deserves to be done, deserves to be "well" done...
Agree x 4
