What a load of shit this setup is. Take a look at the so called "Current player room" Obraik is having a field day with pirrg with propaganda bs posts i havent seen that much pro NGE bs since the summits. They shove us in here and claim everything is the same huh? Im seriously considering making a site and forum this was the last place where the TRUTH could be heard and propaganda could be countered now its just SOE offical forums 2 why not just close the forums down all together and put a link to the offical soe ones if your gonna copy them why not just link to them and save yourself the webspace...
We're sitting in our offices thinking of ways to upset our paying customers. I think were on track to meet that goal.

Well hes seen that Stradden and the mmorpg staf will bend to his will and give him what he wants hes hoping for another forum split so he can get his own room. Yeah just go we sure as hell cant argue or debate anymore god forbid we debate and chat since SOE payed them off...

I don't blame Ob for posting in this forum as here is the only place a discussion can take place. Just by looking at the description for the "current" forum you can see it's a "safe haven" for the game.
As for the OP's comment on the propaganda machine, why even care? If a gamer consider trying the game and only read in that forum, start playing, realize it's crap, he/she didn't do enough homework.
I wouldn't say this Refuge forum is all impartial though I myself would say "our" view sure is more correct as I'm on this side

Any bets on how long before we see ads for sony products here, now that the vocal anti-nge crowd has a refuge?

Bleh, just remove the damned game from the site I say, instead of enforcing Sony board policies. If we wanted pro-nge stuff, we could go there and roll in the nge-goodness posts.

Wow, my first hate-filled post on starwars, yowsa! Before this new forum setup I tried to be accepting of the new nge game and it's fans, and tried posting with respect to others, but good grief this smacks of shenanigans to me at least.
I think everyone is aware of the reason for splitting up the forums, the reason being to seperate us from the sychophantic fanbois that are desperate to recruit more players to a dead game. When we ask ourselves "who would benefit from such an action?" there can only be one logical answer. Since both sides were perfectly happy with the previous state of the forums it can't be us or the fanbois, which only leaves two other possibilities.
However if this forum split is enough to keep them happy, then fine. It's no skin off my nose if SOE wants to increase their number of angry customers. As we all know the game is broke, lags worse than anything else on the market and has more bugs than a tramps overcoat. However if people have to pay good money to discover this before they come to this forum, then I won't bother refuting any of the "facts" posted in the current forum.
I only hope that this site doesn't end up with a bad reputation due to these New Forum Enhacments.

Actuelly I think this set up works better for dismissing the views of the ex Vets. If they didn't have this forum you'd just get everyone posting in the other forum and it would basically need it's own constant moderation. It also nicely works to sideline and dismiss the ex vets views. 'Oh go over to your 'rant' forum and stop posting on the 'real' gameplay forum'.
Now that said this isn't a solution that SoE would have been clever enough to think up and I don't believe this is what MMORPG staff intended but it is how I see the spliting of the SWG forums.
Anyway SoE wouldn't pay them off, they'd threaten to stop talking to MMORPG at all and give all their exclusive interviews and press releases to other sites

No he's in this area trolling our threads like my favorite profession posting "spy" just to be inflamatory. Yet his post gets to stay, while my post in a thread about the blantant and total garbage spliting this forums general discussion is gets deleted. Why? I guess it hit home.
I am one of the censored who doesn't like this Obriak. I am choosing to respond here to this topic today only to remind people of my point that got deleted. Topical debate is suppose to be controversial. Its suppose to have a reason to read the material. Not allowing a fair back and forth of the discussions is total censorship and at any given point in time it will appear this staff is favoring one side of the argument. IN my opinion it is obvious this staff is in support of SOE and the crowd that views our side as rogue, disruptive and immature. It is us just by the simple fact that we have been split is being disparaged by this staff. They blanketly blame us for the swg discussion being unacceptable. Well excuse me if I do not accept blame for the general discussion turning into anti-soe/nge rehetoric.
You refused to moderate the board. Now you are choosing to do so? Well why not just moderate the board? Why censor those of us who disagree with the nge side?
It is total bull and anyone who buys there arguments is blind. They could have simply moderated the general discussion. Did they? No. So they will now moderate the boards? Great! Still doesn't explain the need to split the board now does it Stradden?
My quote stays and my opinion of this site and staff stay. You once got my respect. I once trusted your reviews. I now have serious doubts about its credibility, honesty and integrity because of this decision.
Personally I don't to care to much for him either...haven't posted long here at all, but have read these forums for ages - the underlying feel I get is generally that he appears on here to smugly state whatever he darn well pleases, and seemingly spending very little time playing this game that he single handedly champions.
At the moment he would appear to be posting in 'Our' threads just to show that he can! Damn you!

The only thing I have to say to MMORPG.com about this is that it is not our fault that we vastly outnumber those who currently play the game. You have SOE/LA to thank for that.

I'm sorry man, but I have to completely disagree... this is a fantastic change. Why? Look at the discription on the title of this forum. Look at the difference in Topic & Post counts. Any new player who would go to Current Forum only would be looking past what we thought anyway. But for those with open minds, who thinks their curiosity wouldn't be raised by this Forum?
If anything, this change means MMORPG (a major representative of MMO Players) is recognizing the reality of what has happen to SWG, and it's major impact on the player base & the game itself. This points out more than ever the divide in the player base, and the overwhelming rejection of the NGE by the vast majority of players...
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

MMORPG.COM took the time to give the ex players their own section and you are still complaining. Just goes to show some people are never happy. I don't see you getting squelched a bit. I haven't seen any posts deleted that were even remotely acceptable.
If anything this has empowered the embittered ex-players but you just won't be happy unless you are tearing down the current players fun will ya?

Ya'know... I think this just goes to prove, no matter what you do, you just can't make everybody happy.
The staff here at mmorpg.com are bending over backwards to make you, me and everyone else here happy, they are trying to find a happy medium between giving everyone a voice while making sure everyone is comfortable and is able to have that voice heard without being torn into by someone who has a grudge.
And what... still, that's not enough for you? Right, so now mmorpg.com is in some sort of colusion with SOE to seperate the happy players from the uhappy ex/player? LOL... well ok, let's look at that and ask ourselves, what exactly would this accomplish? Are you gone, are you still not continuing to endlessly complain about a game you could easily just drop? Were you told to leave the site and never come back?
I'm not trying to be snarky here, I'm just completely baffled as to why when the staff make an effort to hear everyone out and give everyone a good place to vent out their frustration, likes and disslikes... all of a sudden they are the bad guys?

This is a great idea, however this will also be one of those "be careful what you wish for", things.
We know why, most are not that stupid, in fact - I know there is several reasons for this split up.
SOE did not do this for a reason, soon I think it will show it's head here. Somthing tells me this could get worse though. The concept is great, but the result may be unwanted.

Why were the forums setup?
1) To stop the bickering between pre and post NGE players.
2) To stop the constant attacks on new players asking valid questions, only then to be attacked by someone who still possesses a grudge against SOE for the NGE.
3) For vets to come speak how they liked the game before NGE without being attacked by post NGE fans and vice versa.
4) So we didn't have to completely wipe the SWG forums and delete every thread created - past and present.
5) Because us mods, staff members, and other members are getting sick of the multitude of daily reports and offenses coming from the constant attacks between each "faction".
These were not created to segregate pre and post players. Either preference can post in either forum. If you (this is generally speaking) post something negative in either forums about post or pre, this is fine, however, if it results in unconstructive posts such as "SOE SUCKS", "I HATE SWG", "SWG SUXXORS!", etc. or if you attack another member, you will be dealt with properly. If you have multiple warnings, you will be banned. If you were banned before for a similar offense, more than likely you will be perm banned.
That's a really good point.

is to keep a bunch of jaded ex players of SWG from contsantly flaming and attacking the people who actually do play and enjoy the game.
What you should be asking is why are there so many people with nothing better to do than hang out on a forum board and bash a game they dont even play?

Don't worry about them spreading propaganda, because nothing they are saying about the game is true in reality.
Hell, the more they convince people to try SWGNGE, the better. They won't like it. They will see the massive bugs, lack of content, and half assed work. In other words, by sucking them in they increase OUR numbers in the end, they come here and learn about the game they missed, and the game they could have, if we could convince SOE to come to their senses.
