I'm new to WoW.

I've played other MMORPGs, and WoW isn't any different. I really like GW. Anyways, it seems pretty cool. I wander if you can get pleveled and stuff? I wish someone would take me around and stuff from the beginning. It really sucks having to find everything on your own with quests and stuff. It expects you to finish quests without a guide marker or anything.

It would be boring to start WoW at this point.  Everyone playing is going to have several level 60s and so it seems like you will never be able to "fit in".  However, it is a fun game.  You will see at a certain level that it is not a very self-efficient game.  In other words there is the goal of obtaining gear and that is about it.  No ownership property ect...

Fun, but I would recommend on looking for the 3rd generation MMORPGs coming out in the next year or so.  They all seem promising.

You dont need any help. WoW is for MMO Newbies. The game walks you thru 1 to 60 in no time. If you never played it before go for it, but once you get to 60 you will realize why many people quit. Up to you thou. :)

I been WoW free for over 2 months now and it feels great so far, following different games. Playing in two Betas (Cant mention which) of highly anticipated MMOs for 2007 and I'm having a blast.

    Have fun with WoW.

    extremely FALSE post.

WoW is running healthy enough that new players come to it weekly. You aren't always going to get help as a new player, but your chances of finding someone new as well is pretty high. Also about questing..I think WoW has pretty much dumbed down quests and they're practically highlighted in everyway.

Quest givers have "!" above their heads.
Quest advancers have "?" above their heads, and they also show up as yellow blips on the map.

    Still some fun quests though.

god forbid should you learn how to play the game on your own like everbody els, if you really need your hand held in a game like wow maybe you should stick to consoles?

yes i know that is a bit harsh, but its the truth...you shouldn't need any help, you can get to max level without the help of anybody.....wow is the most newby friendly mmog i have ever seen or played.

exactly. the very reason wow is so freakin' popular, and became popular is due to it's easy "pick up & play" appeal.

it's not hard to get from level 1 to 60 at all. however i would suggest that if you we're to start a character, you should wait till the expansion comes out to have the option of trying out the new races and availability of all the classes. if you posted a few months back i would have suggested getting to 60 asap before the expansion.

either way, wow is very easy to play and most people won't mind helping you at all. however, it is an online game and like every online game, you'll find degenerate assholes but for the most part the general community is helpful to each other.

    my character is:

    Horde
    Undead
    Priest
    LVL 60

Well I'm new to mmo and new to WoW. The only mmo history I have is a 10lvl free trial of EQ. I recently started playing WoW and I am totally addicted . Now I know that I'm a total noob and have no experience to comment but my point is I just started the game and I am playing with TONS of players - all levels. I know some are likely starting new characters as rhealms are down but many people I have met are new to the game. I think the game takes you along nicely and I have yet to encounter a proplem with being overrun by lvl60 players. Mind you I am not on a PvP rhealm.

Anyway, IMHO It's an excellent game for someone just delving in to mmorpg.

    Clicky

The above link will take you to the Thottbot.com web-site. You'll find several class and profession guides, as well as quest walk throughs.

Having said that, I'd encourage taking a stab at doing the quests yourself and exploring the landscape. Most quests will display a yellow dot on your mini-map when you get within range of the quest item.

Okay, perhaps it's more of my poor opinion of the game.  While WoW does get new players weekly I just feel it's my duty as an MMORPG lover to warn new players of what they are getting into before they beat the game in 5 months and are left with nothing more to do other than create a new character and do it again.  If you like that then the game is right for you.  But anyone who has played early MMORPGs will admit that WoW is lacking in many categories as far as taking the game a step farther and allowing a true self-efficient community to develope, including one for newbies.

Clearly you love WoW and I view it as more of an MMO than an MMORPG.  Whatever works for you though.  Just understand it lacks the key elements of great MMORPGs such as player ran cities, building ownership(houses and guild houses).  With such elements missing it is easy for a newbie because it is just like a video game you can play without even having other people in it (to a certain degree).

Wow is fun till you get to 60,  then the time it takes to get endgame stuff going,  and ontop of that the time it takes to get your epics and how endgame guilds are.  i did not like it i played wow for a year then i decided to quit wow.  i went back to swg (god i hate nge) but it is still fun and dont require my constant attention.  alot of people tha thate wow are people like me that are just burnt out.  if i quit swg again i would prob go to gws or a light mmo i am not doing a eq clone again.  i gave my gold to my friend and kept all my stuff equiped.  i had a 60 hunter 60 pally  58 warlock 60 shaman.  yes you can say you get bored quick at 60 and wait months to get accepted in endgame guilds.  i finally got tired of it and left.

swg may not be as fun but it beats wow (now that is pretty bad).

    Back to the OPs questions:

I would suggest you find a good guild, not an end game guild, but a casual guild that will help
your character run through the dungeons. Most casual guilds have people that constantly reroll or have plenty of low level alts. Most raiding guilds, wouldn't take you unless you were 60, were keyed to MC/BWL/Ony/Naxx and had so much gear.

The next thing you need to do is to find some friends that will group with you on a constant basis during your playing schedule. If you can't find a good group of people in your guild, ask around for people to group with.
WoW is solo friendly, most people got to 60 by soloing at some point. I soloed 2 characters to 60 and only did 3 dungeons (SM, ST, BRD) on the way.

If you can't be bothered to find something yourself don't bother the others who took the time to figure it out for themsleves.  WoW tells you where just about everything is in the quests and holds your hand while you get there...if you need to be shoved to your location use thottbot.com and stay off the LFG channel spamming "Where are the missing guards?"

Harsh? Maybe, but it's just so annoying when the quest tells you where your objective is.

Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.
