Update 15/09/2006- Manual blocking is in!

Manual blocking,long a debated issue in the Darkfall forums was largely written off as not being in the game.

However,this update seems to confirm that manual blocking is now in the game,to go alongside manual attacking. No real specifics but it will please a lot of people who really wanted it in.

    Sometimes, I really do <3 the DF devs. Removing features is par for the course, but adding them back in? Not so common. Especially features as awesome as manual blocking. :D

    That "70% similarity to Mount & Blade combat" metric that Claus quipped once has now justified itself!

    Now that I can see as something that was holding things up! I hope they were just trying to fill some time while aiming for a christmass release.

    Nice, but when is the damn game out, they say 2003 Q1 I think, in an interview, a small delay?Lol.

    The latest we have heard regards any kind of release/beta date is from here: http://the-combine.com/ArticleViewer.aspx?ArticleNo=327 (posted 30/06/2006,not long back).

    "The date for beta isn't locked quite yet but our target date is this year. It's important to remember that we'll announce beta and launch dates as soon as we've locked them."

    With the updates continuing to become better (for now),this target may end up being true,but only time will tell.

    That's great news. It's good to see that the devs are striving to enrich the player experience and are taking into account what the community is asking for.

    I think manual blocking in this kind of fast combat environment will really rock and add so much more than the constand hack and slashing. There's a tactical aspect in this that's really exciting

    We've known for a while that Darkfall intends to give us a very FPS like experience, with aimed spells, arrows, and even controlled melee combat. But it turns out there is more.

    In addition to this style of combat, the offensive side of things.. We now get the defensive arm too. Previously cast aside as something impossible to manage and handle well in such an environment, told that manual blocking would not be able to pass muster..

    As of now, it has. It is in. Manual blocking is functioning within Darkfall. Not only will you have complete control over your attacks, but now over your defences also.

    Just great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I find it incredibly cool. But then again it kinda makes sense. If you have to aim to fire you arrows and spells and rocks then i guess its just as fair the the other player gets the chance to block it.

    I jut cant wait to see what new type of interesting stuff the Devs are going to implement withinb the game!
