Criteria

I am looking for an mmorpg here is my basic things I'm looking for:

Good Roleplaying Environment

Ability for character to actually "alter" world

Good combat engine (e.g. you slash your sword and they just sit there then turn around and hit you you just sit there ect)

Ability for player to build houses and/or cities (preferably accompanying with the ability to build cities)

Crafting System

Some flexibility in your proffesion (like you don't have to just choose warrior and all you do is just what the class exactly describes possibly pick up a little magic)

Preferably open Pvp (most forms of PvP will interest me anyway I just prefer open)

I do not like slow engines where it takes for ever to attack

Slow combat like:

[/attack]
go away eat some food watch tv and come back to see if you've won

or
[target enemy]
[finding class level]
[you've lost the battle!]

These are my basic guidlines...is there any hope for me finding a game like this?

Good Roleplaying Environment you can find good roleplay in almost every game if you look

Ability for character to actually "alter" world Horizons, SWG.

Good combat engine (e.g. you slash your sword and they just sit there then turn around and hit you you just sit there ect) I liked DAoC and anarchy online :) just about all mmorpgs have this kind of combat system however.

Ability for player to build houses and/or cities (preferably accompanying with the ability to build cities) SWG is the best here, 2nd would be Horizons. DAOC also has houses.

Crafting System I suggest Horizons again here, best crafting in a mmorpg.

Some flexibility in your proffesion (like you don't have to just choose warrior and all you do is just what the class exactly describes possibly pick up a little magic) Horizons and SWG yet again! you can multiclass in horizons and you can do whatever you want in any combo in SWG

Preferably open Pvp (most forms of PvP will interest me anyway I just prefer open) Shadowbane, Neocron, most games have a pvp server but NC and SB are what I would reccomend for open pvp

I do not like slow engines where it takes for ever to attack Few mmorpgs are very slow, some however are laggy ie horizons is very laggy.

There isnt your perfect game but some are closer then others . I suggest you do some of the free trials. fileplanet has tuns for download. or you can search around for some others.. out of them all.. I can suggest Dark age of Camelot and Anarchy Online above the rest. daoc has better pvp. but I think AO's more fun.

I did say SWG and Horizons alot.. but their flaws (lag in Horizons and lack of fun things to do in SWG) beat their good parts.

EDIT: almost forgot final fantasy XI! you may really like it.. tho I quit due to the SLOW leveling... heh
