OK, a friend from another game told me there is a free trial for Eve. I'm poor, so I don't wanna pay for another game until I've seen it - I'm not cheap, just don't have money to burn. So anyway, I downloaded the Eve Client file, started to create a new account and was immediately asked for money and not given an option for a free trial.
Have I been mislead and there is no free trial, or have i missed something?
Apologies if I seem like a skinflint, but I really cannot afford to subscribe to 2 games (Ryzom player, for those who wanna know). So its one or the other for me, and I'd really like to give Eve a look.
Thanks in advance,
Ffi

1. hit any of the trial links it should give you a CD-key for the trial. The one on MMORPG takes you to another page with the key on it.
2. During the first window of the create a new account section, make sure you hit the right option for make a account with a CD-key.
3. Put the key in there. or for the link to enter it This page
That should get you through the process with out needing a credit card.
Thanks I'll try that now
Tried it and have never been so bored with a game ranked so highly in my life. It definatly reaches out to a specific group of gamers, one that I must not be part of
It's not saying you're impatient if you've become bored with the game. I played on and off for the better part of 2 years before I relaly 'got into it'. I was in an NPC Corporation for that whole time too. I'd mine until the sound of my lasers made my ears bleed, get bored, and move on to something else.
Only recently, since I've joined a player Corporation, have I found out what fun EVE can be. The first time I was able to help the Corporation instead of myself was great. I prefer bing a loner, but in EVE it isn't practical, or as much fun. In time, perhaps you'll come back. Best of luck!
It also depends what kind of corp you join. My first player corp actually killed EVE for me... I left the game for almost 9 months before coming back. Now I'm in a different corp and am having the time of my life in the game. I'm actually considering choosing one of the multi-month payment plans, in fact. And UO was previously the only MMORPG I have ever done that for. So that's saying a lot about how much choice of corp, not just getting in one but choosing the right one, can influence how much fun you have in this game. It really is huge.
Picking a corp, unfortunately, seems to be mostly a crap shoot. I recommend using the corp recruiting channel in game. Dont' post on forums or read forum adds, they're never true to what is in the game. Talk to the officers in the corp recruiting chat in game and get a feel for which one you think you'd do well in. I wound up choosing a smaller corp than I thought I would. However I am having far more fun in that one than I ever had in the first corp I joined which was so hyper-organized it made you feel like you were logging in to go to work more than to play a game. My current corp is awesome, very family feel to it. We get stuff done no problem but we aren't dictatorial about it usually.
PS: There is MUCH more to EVE than mining Lord I hate mining... which is why I never do it except when strange urges strike me. Usually 30 minutes shooting rocks with Miner II's in my Osprey cures me of that. During Corp mining Ops I usually tank any rats and provide cover from PC pirates as well. A more 'typical' day in EVE for me is either running missions or defending our area of 0.0 from badguys or ratting in 0.0 asteroid belts with corp mates.

i was in a corp where this guy suddenly flipped out and began threatening to kill us all(including my baby daughter) in real life, and since he knew where some of us lived as he was supposed to be a friend, we had to get the police in, unfortunately ccp didnt think it was thier dudty to protect its customers and allowed him to carry on playing.
now im in a very small corp consisting of a few survivors of the original corp, and we are all best amtes, and it works much better for us.
as fara s minign goes , we havnt mined in about 8 months heh, prefering to get our kicks from pvp, EVE has something for everyone, you just have to carve out your niche. Yep
