I have to say...Looking at those Screenshots makes me a little nervous...I don't want to have to buy a new computer(yet again) to be able to play the game I want to.

These Screens look incredible...But Whoa, thats alot of detail definition on some of them.

True.  But it's certainly closer to it than any other game.  I think that's the point people are trying to make.  They aren't really similar at all in textures, general look, character models, armor and weapon skins, etc., but when it comes to minaiture-esque exaggerations, then they are both quite similar.

I am sure that Mythic wouldn't alienate potential customers by making a game very few people actually have the hardware to play. After all, this is an MMO, a game that requires as many people to subscribe as possible.

Well, yeah, but in the same regards. Art is exaggerations. There really is no stopping that. I don't mean to sound condescending or anything, but look at any work and say that there are no exaggerations. (When I think this with art it also means things like trying to convey something with a bit more complicated.) But, personally I don't even see any similarities at all between the two games.

As Warcraft was pitched to GW to be a warhammer game many years ago its not surprising there are similarities.

It's just a lot of cliche tbh.

Well sure a lot of people bring up the fact that Warhammer is much older than Warcraft and what-not but the fact remains that there are similarities between the two in their art style.  Warhammer didn't have to go for a look like this, and they didn't have to make their art look more like their miniatures rather than all the wonderful drawn art they have available to them.
They knew that if they went for a look like their miniatures it'd look much like an MMO that's already immensely popular that's now approaching near 7 million subscribers.  You'd think they'd go for an art style a little more distinct, but I'm still definitely looking forward to this game and that's probably the only problem I have thus far.  I can live with it.

"Time.." I chuckled "I hold no secret to time, though it's mystery puzzles me. Deny it's existence and lie to myself not with hopes of a quickened pace."

It's the goddamn CGI intro that draws the direct relation to WoW. The 6 races in duels showcasing each of the racial pairings seems a whole lot like WoW's.

WoW's style is more cartooney, WAR's style looks more like painted miniatures come to life color palette wise. The look of the dwarfs of WAR is a lot closer to more typical fantasy lore, while WoW had their dwarf males look grim and cartooney and the women look like nice short ladies in their 30s-60s. WoW had this line go on through all the races as there really was not much customization to do. Everyone had a distinct look and thus strong "racial character". The orcs and goblins in WAR on the other hand look a lot less like typical MMO playable orcs and goblins due to the fact that they're genderless and there's no need for the pretty females. They both look butt-ugly, and that's a good thing.

I would think people would rather relive the miniatures battles rather than the varying concept/fan/fiction art that's been going around the Warhammer universe, don't you? I think it's a wise decision to make the game look like the miniatures.

We can't really compare the style until we see the humans and elves, but I can tell you the two are about as different in style already as any other fantasy MMO vs any other fantasy MMO.

I would have to strongly disagree with any idea that WAR should have a different look.  It looks like miniatures come to life, which is also what the art looks like.  If Games Workshop approves it, it has my approval as well.

Yep, let's just abandon the fanbase because someone else ripped off our stuff. Twenty years of lore, gone all because some made a shoddy coppy of us. Forget that WH designs are darker and more detialed then the other guys, the fact that another company used orcs and goblins will just have to make us drop that race, in spite of how iconic it is.

    Edit: Magma Squigs FTW!
