Game artists! I know those guys spend a lot of time in front of a pc but they must let them out to play every once in a while. You'd think they'd know by now that the mammary glands on the female of the species do not leap up and threaten to strangle us around the neck. Nor are they in the habit of losing themselves in the viscinity of our waist. For all the $$ at Microsoft you'd think they could hire artists who know where a woman's tits are located. Puhleez.

We should like start a coalition... Porno for artists. I'm pretty sure that will totally help them in the design of games... Or it could delay production if you really think about it.

There is such a concept as a "perfect rack" in every man's mind. However the female physique varies much in this department. Some women do have their boobs exceptionally high up, others have them hanging very low even by default. Some women have their boobs very close to each other while others have them nearly in their armpits. Some women have huge nipples in the middle of their tits, others have insanely tiny ones way off to the sides. The same goes for men on a much smaller scale of course. Some of us have our nipples almost in the middle of our pectorals while others don them on the very bottom so the look like they're hanging. Also the way fat gathers on the male chest differs from individual to individual.

The human body is a wonderful and diverse thing. As long as you can't make a character that couldn't exist due to his/her body's proportions looking like they're about to collapse on his/herself, it's ok

Microsoft has nothing to do with Vanguard. At one time they were going to publish it but that is no longer even the case.

You know what I want? Decent clothing. Why must every set of armor for ladies become a bikini top and panties or hot pants?
Woudln't that leave just a little too much exposed skin for said critters and things you were slaying to, I dunno, cut you?
Not to mention how cold it would be in the cooler climates.

STOP discrimination of males now! Isnt it shameful that we males are reduced to ugly, hulky Schwarzeneggers in MMOs? Why should we not be able to show the beauty of our bodies, why is this a privilege of women?

So I have a few suggestions to counter the discrimination of males:

- sexy wear: why only females in skimpy chain bikinis? design chain string tangas, jocks and tiny muslce shirts for males, optional plate-mail jocks

- every 2nd male NPC should at least show 60% of his body

- skin tight dress: leather wear should be skin-tight also, see any fetish wear shop for inspiration

- the logical addtion to females half dropping their breasts out of their clothing, its only logic males have clothing with their balls hanging out half

- make crotch size visible, most male characters look like eunuchs, make it big, not only boobs should stand out (optional 18+ server with morning erection when a male character logs in)

Ok /parody mode off ... maybe you think how you would feel if males are portrait like willing sex slaves to thing twice what you wish for. Sex is good and computer games are good, but I dont want to see sexyness in games, no matter if in males of females. Those boobs-filled game covers just get the heck on my nerves, it has zero to do with a fantasy game. Just imagine how misplaced it would feel to imagine all those LOTR characters in sexy wear. *shudder* Really, I am far from prude, but each to where the damn it belongs! If you want porn, watch porn, dont expect it in computer games. ><

in traditional fantasy art, females have always been skimpy clad, and males have always been even skimpier clad barbarian types, its the way of the fantasy art world, its only now that its changing.

Simply: I think Fantasy should not be sexual. Sex is ok, but I dont want to see it mixed with Elves and Wizards, because I feel these worlds as above said ppl designed them, and I guess the "visions" of those men are what fundamentally shaped Fantasy, not some mag artists.

I *draw* such semi-nude art. Thats not the point, I just dont want to "spoil" high fantasy with sexual themes. I want to see Fantasy games Family friendly.

Sexuality is a big reason we have a concept of magic. There is a huge interrelation between the two.

Its a difficult topic for me. I am a Pagan, not a Christian, so I dont share the common moral on topics of human body and moral, and I am well aware of the connection of sexuality and magic. I also see that things changed since Tolkien.

However, I fear it is very difficult, if not impossible to have sexual notions in Fantasy without getting gross and without falling into the pathway of degrading women to objects. It is a matter of how it fits into the whole. I play SWG for many years, and naturally in the Cantinas we have quite near-nude male and female chars. This is ok, because it fits into a dirty, fukked up Cantina. But a Queen or a female Knight in chain bikini (or the male counterpart) just makes me laugh at best. I still prefer to put sexuality into other places than games. (In rl, where it is much better than in a computer.)

Whenever I watch TV after 10 PM seeing nudes in every 2nd TV spot (at least here in Europe this is so, dunno if US otherwise) I have the feeling we are OVER sexed atm and FAR from having a natural habit to deal with sexuality. It is either a fetish or dirty, and as long as this is so in our culture, we better be careful with it.

(I know friends in Wicca and the OTO, Amanthe, so I know about magic and sexuality, if you must know, heh. Still, Fantasy... for me thats my inner child, if you want, and seeing sexual hints ruins this feeling for me.)

personally clothes on women that others see as sexual , i don't , i see them as asthetically pleasing, being an artist myself i think i can see above the sexual in an artfrom if it involves skimpy clothes etc. i do see you point and i do agree with it in many respects, but also my tastes in aesthetics do mean i quite like to see a small amount of skimp

of course over the top just leads to gratuity and is neither tasteful nor asthetically pleasing.

but the OP is correct most cg artists in games dont seem to have the simplest grasp of human anatomy, they either do over the top anime style boobies, or they ruin the female form in more hideous ways :S what is thier problem?

please spare us your phony arguments that a female showing skin is not
"family friendly". Apparently the wholesale slaughter of creatures
(humans included), the thousands of slain npc's you need under your
belt to get anywhere and which permeates the genre is more "family
friendly"? Right.

So even an orgy of violence and death passes
under your moral radar unchallenged, but any even remotely and far
fetched "sexual" content raises your alarm? I sure don't wish to live
or even play in your world.

And, oh, on Tolkien, Feist,
Salvatore, etc. being "classical" fantasy, one could argue that too.
Authors like Robert E. Howard predate these by decades, and the worlds
of Conan and his likes are filled with women who are all (monotonously, granted)
described as having firm breasts, enticing hips, flashing green eyes,
cascades of red hair and seductive lips and who of course wear clothes
which emphasize all that. As far as
fantasy authors are concerned you may prefer the new kids on the block,
but that alone is not sufficient to make them "classic".

In closing, If skin is incompatible with your ideas of high fantasy, fine. It's perfectly in line with me, and I dare say, I'm with the majority on that one. So we all basically want, as you wrote, porn. Why, thank you, how nice of you to say that. Rest assured, I don't think I like you very much either.

God, Americans are so sheltered. (I am one so I can say this) The slightest glimpse of boobies and people get on their high horse, but killing is perfectly fine. (unless your Jack Thompson) If society accepted that these things are a part of life the world would be a better place. Hell if something even hinted to sex... Be-careful! Cause it didn't actually say anything like that, but was an innuendo. I can't tell you how many times I showed something to people and then them getting so upset that there were boobies spouting off "OMG! PORNZORZ! take it away."

Personally people need to grow up. It really is that simple.

If you can convince more girls / women to play video games you might start to see that... as long as it remains an overwhelmingly male audience, the skin is going to show.
