Obviously I prefer a game I don't have to keep paying for after I've already purchased it, however with most games this is not the case and I wouldn't mind paying to play a game I truly enjoyed. Unfortunately I still have yet to find a game worth paying $15 a month to play IMO.

Pay to play games always have a more mature community. Or to make a better point HAVE A COMMUNITY. I'll pay $15 a month to not have a server full of 8-year-olds.

QFT...but I'll take it a step further; I'd pay $50. a month not to have anyone under the age of 21 in the game!
Free to play MMOGs attract the worst possible crowd...truly, the bottom of the barrel.

True but there's a lot of people out there that give their 8-year-old the credit card number left and right like its going out of style.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
I think most people are willing to pay for higher quality games...as that is why you are paying in the first place, because budget titles are made with smaller staffing and less resources at their disposal...i don't know of anybody that plays exclusively budget titles.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Personally, I don't think monthly fees account for anything other than maintenance. Think about it - Oblivion costs £35 to buy (when it first came out), and that was a pay-once deal. Now think of all the production costs to make something that... monumental. Now think of the best P2P MMO out there, in terms of graphics, gameplay etc. Do any of them come close to Oblivion? Do any of them beat it hands down? I would be surprised if there are any out there. Mostly because to play an MMO with the graphical detail of Oblivion would take 10gb+ of HD space to install it, not to mention a computer like Deep Blue!
I feel that the monthly costs on MMOs is purely for upkeep - those patches, CSR support, and server costs.
The problem is, there are games out there that charge as much as top-end games to run, but they don't come close to providing the same level of support. Star Wars: Galaxies for example - the CSR support on there is a complete joke, the servers are up and down like a yoyo (at least they used to be), and they completely botched the game. Yet they feel they can charge the same monthly fee as, say, Everquest II.
Current MMO: None Previous MMOs: WoW, Guild Wars, SWG, EQ2, LotrO, Vanguard, Matrix Online, AoC, Ultima Online, Fallen Earth, D&D Online, Champions Online, Aion, Rift.
That's just the graphics however. Mmorpgs are tons more complicated than a single player game. Sorry man but you are greatly uneducated as far as the difference between a single player game with no multiplayer features to boot, and a massively online game.
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
Free is welcome, but I'm willing to pay for better quality. Which means I might use free games for filling the time between the really exciting ones. But when the latter come along, I'll still buy them.
