Like the title says i wanna know if anyone can guess the system requirements of AoC? I'm thinking about buying a new pc and i want to see what ill need to invest in.
I too am interested in this as I would very much like to give this game a try when it is finally released. It looks to me to be the best of the '3rd Gen' games (appeals to me more than Vanguard or LOTR Online).
I fear the system requirements for this one are going to be huge though. From the gameplay videos that I have seen the graphics look amazing (a lot better than Vanguard and about the same as LOTR Online).
Another thing that leads me to expect that a monster rig will be required to play this game at an enjoyable level is the real time combat system. I think that lower end systems will just not be able to handle it and could cause some serious problems with lag.
My present system is a few years old now and I'm afraid that I'll have to splash the cash if I want to be able to play AoC next year. My present system is as follows; 2.2 Gb AMD Processor, 1.5 Gb RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (256 Mb) Videocard.
Any advice on where to upgrade would be appreciated or maybe I would be better just getting a whole new system? Thanks in advance for any replies.
MMORPG History: Playing - EVE Online. Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion. Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9). Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.
From what I've read on the main site, the graphics will be highly scaleable and you'll even be able to play with DX9 if you can't use 10. Though now that I'm typing it out, it would seem silly that you can't use 10 if you have Window's Vista needed to play the game...
Regardless, I would assume if you have a pretty decent rig right now, say able to play EQ2, I should assume you'll have no problems so long as you just tone down AoC a bit.
1.10 What sort of PC is required to play Age of Conan?<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /> The minimum requirements for Age of Conan have not yet been finalize. The game will be highly scalable so you can adjust the settings according to the performance of your PC.
1.11 What does it mean to be a Windows <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />Vista launch title? Age of Conan is a Windows Vista launch title. This means that we are cooperating with Microsoft in the development of Age of Conan to make sure it takes advantage of Windows Vista, the upcoming new operating system from Microsoft. As the first online game Age of Conan will also feature DX10 support, which allows us to bring an even more detailed gameworld to the players. The game can also be played on DX9.

AoC will have a much higher processing strain on the computer than EQ2, that's not a good rule of thumb I'm afraid.

Eh, well if you put it that way...
A superior game engine also means the ability to send, recieve, and process information faster, in other words, less requirements than for something that would otherwise be equal.
As a general rule though, this does not balance out, and it has higher requirements than its predecessors anyways

Just wait until Vista is out, and there DX10 cards go down in price from initial release...
cause even if you dont' get vista or a DX10 card, the release of that will drive down the price of DX9 cards... thats what I'm waitingon myself

Oh I dunno about all that, EQ2 is rarely run on its full settings even by people with decent PCs...
If you can run EQ2 can you run AoC? I'd say a definate yes
Will it be at max settings? I dunno about that...
And the whole "Vista" DX10 thing, it will be like a higher setting than the highest setting on XP/DX9, nothing more...
