Supreme Commander beta(not as closed as first perceived)

I have two spots for my downloading needs, fileplanet.com, and www.pcgameworld.com. For the most part I prefer pcgameworld because of no waiting in line, although the issue is that sometimes the mirrors blow when it comes to speed. Losing the point though; when I heard that fileplanet had a beta for supreme commander I was all, "yippee", when I saw that it was for subscribers only, I was, "aww".

No worries though...

So far the game feels eerily like "Total Annihilation 2", but I loved TA, so this is a good thing. You'll need a fairly new computer to fully immerse yourself in the experience. I was starting to get FPS issues on the lowest settings and without there even being a battle commencing.

Mind you TA is a near 10 year old game, and needed 256mb to play smoothely, so be warned.

It feels like TA 2 becuase it essentially IS TA 2, its being made by Chris Taylor, and even the old music and sound artists. The TA official franchise was sold to a french company after Cave Dog shutdown, Gas Powered Games rose from the ashes.

However, I have a REALLY bad feelign that your file is illigal, since it's in no way hosted, endorsed, and even spoken about on the supreme commander website.

I saw a torrent for this, but I can't be bothered with beta versions.

I'll wait until they have finished it rather than compromise the experience.

I wondered about the legitimacy of the file myself, but pcgameworld isn't a tiny little dirty corner in the web that few know about, and I don't think UGO would risk a lawsuit if it was in fact illegal.

Btw, I know. That's why I hyped the game 3 months ago. I'm a TA fanboi to the extreme, and knowing that the mastermind behind it was going to make a spiritual sequel on an even bigger scale, made me more giddy than a little schoolgirl.

Actually, it is an illegal version, since you need a hack to play it (the crack file thats required to DL). Of course I'm just mad because I can't figure out how to get mine to work :P

I'm intrigued by Supreme Commander, but nothing about it so far has really made me get truly excited about the game...the scale is huge, and the units are really big, and that's all well and good, but if there is no depth other than who can get to their super weapons fastest then it won't be any fun anyway.
