The best game to pay for

hello
Prety much every one has been saying that if u want a good mmorpg then u have to pay.
But ther are so many out there that i'm not shure witch one is most worth paying for. I know that i used to hear that everquest was the best, is that still so???
oh and i usualy like playing a mage so if the game has bad mage system then i dont like it much.
Can someone please help me out and tell me what there opinion about witch game is most worth playing for is...

    By mage do you mean like a tankmage? Or something, anyhow if i were you i would sit on the side lines for awhile as the begin to release big titles like WoW, CoH, and EQ2. That way you dont hop into some game and then later want to jump into another. And just to drop you a line, i havent played as many MMO's as the other people on these forums  but EQ just wasnt my style (but hey if you like elves,dwarfs,etc go for it) and SWG was okay but pretty disapointing to me. And if your afriad of tankmages i suppose you might wanna watch out for that one since everyone is basical a Commando(or Bounty Hunterand Teras Kasi)/Medic and etc. Some might not define that as tankmages but if they werent then 70% of the SWG population wouldnt be them....so i dont know what to tell you sept wait. Personaly i am waiting for CoH, but not to many people are to grooved about the superhero genre...

    If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

    ya when i say mage i mean like Tibia style. Thats prety much the only game i really played and i though it was fun. I really enjoyed making runes and stuff. What's a tankmage? lol

    Oh i thought you ment a tankmage, sorry. A tankmage is like an...oh this is harder to explain than I thought. Its like an ultimate solo character, that has the best combos of asortments. Like....oi...............umm alittle help someone?. I dont know how to explain it.

    I will not try to tell you to do or not to do anything, but here is my info.

     

    EQ have always been accused to be a pro-caster game compare to meleeing.  In EQ a mage can progress all the way up, soloing and naked, NP...it will just be long.  In EQ, if you dont raid, you will be a sub-toon, you will never reach the highest stuff(they work on this, but so far, they lessen the difference, it is still there, and if you read my ranting, I find this unacceptable that a raider is even close to a grouper usefullness in a group), so until you reach the levels you need it can be fun, but after, it is as simple as a "RAID or be GHETTO in soloing, grouping, tradeskilling and PvPing".  If you dont mind at all been ghetto compare to another player that is raiding and then taking your group spot because he have the gear and the group want him instead of you, or if you LOVE to raid, then EQ is not an issue on the raiding aspect. Anyway, raiding is a long term issue, you can try and see for yourself.  :)

    DAoC have always been accused to be a pro-melee game compare to casting, dont waste your time there.  They not only make it so you need to raid, but you need to raid in a PvP zone(the nightmare)...I quit very angry after 2 weeks despite some very nice changes (buffing and stick would be my nicest praises).

    I didnt play the other MMORPGs, so I wont say anything at all on them.  Althought I will pinpoint to Morrowind and all the D&D games that have been released either by Black Isle, Atari or SSI.

    A battlemage is a hybrid character, a mix of Melee and magic. Not good at either but well enough to stand alone in combat. A well liked class because of its diversity. I myself like monk classes, dealing huge amounts of damage, I'm not one for standing in front of something and just taking damage so others can have all the fun. Best and worse Monk class is on EQ.  Best it was fun, worst I was always the chain puller, so again I didnt get to do much combat, just pull pull pull pull.. for hours and hours.

    monk sounds like the kinda caracter that would be good for me but what do you mean by chain puller?
