Gaming with a widescreen vs. flat panel

Hi, I will soon have to buy a new computer, I'm thinking about going for a widescreen, but how does it look when you play with it? Does it feel like the characters are streched or it still looks nice?

    I teh game does not support your screens resolution then it some times looks weird or it just goes black on the sides taht make it wider...  Any ways most new games support wide screen resolutions...

    Hi Solntse.

    As said almost every game supports wide-screen res. It has never been a problem for me.

    By the way. If you are going for a widescreen buy bigger than 19"!
    The 19" is very small vertically, it gets a hell lot better if you just go up a notch to a 20".

    Got a widescreen, it works good for me.  Only problem is a lot of TV programs are not adjusted for Wide screen.  Can't wait until WS becomes the standard format.

    How much ms are necessary to run recent games? I'm thinking about going for the Dell 24", it has a 12 ms response, which dosent seem a lot compared to smaller LCD monitor, it might be enough, I just dont know anything about those.

    I think 12ms is fine. Some people here will probably say different. My old ass Sony LCD is rated at 16ms and I have no problems with it for gaming.
