if guildwars was a hell of a game , ive been a fanboy since release , guildwars nightfall comes to bring a new and much better game. its amazing what they did with it. all the story line is much better lined up , the hero system is so awsome it feels like a new game , imo , its by far the best option to start. later if you become a fan like me , you will want all chapters , eheh. Go for nightfall !

Its always best to start with the original, and go from original -> factions -> Nightfall

Get Nightfall first seen as everyones over there enjoying the awesome missions and quests. If you like that, which you do, get prophecies, then factions. Well thats the order i'd do it if i was starting.
Oh yeah I recomend you to get the collectors editions just fot the amazing concept art book image

I disagree.  Nightfall is a better starter than prophecies.  Also I think pre-searing ascalon is pretty boring.

me too. This is one case where an installment turns out to be much better than the original, IMO.

Playing now: Cities: Skyline / Ori and the Blind Forest / Banished

Yeah, I agree with gestalt11. Nightfall really is more newbie friendly than the original game. If you're starting out, start there.

And if you're starting out, just DO NOT start with Factions. Least newbie friendly game in the set.

  • I got to the Realm of Torment last night and I gotta say its amazing looking.   Just awesome.  A crazy freaky abyss.

So far the missions are great.  How can you not like a mission with almost no fighting and a requirement of a drinking contest to get masters ;).  Lotsa cool interesting mechanics in many of the missions.

I'm not surprised that Factions doesnt have any votes yet image  I liked some of the art in it, and I liked the new professions, but the storyline/cinematics/newbie area I didnt think much of.  Plus the whole Alliance Battle thing (though neat) is nothing compared to Nightfall's addition of Heroes.

I beat if NightFall wasnt out yet factions be #1 in votes

I started with prophecies and it doesn't matter which 1 u start with

    a) If u want more PvE content go for Nightfall

    b) If you want more PvP content go for Factions

    c) If you want a little a both go for Prophecies

I recommend Nightfall first because the Heroes and PvE is so SWEET!

Nightfall is best to start with imo. No shocker going post searing (from beautiful setting to that awful desert). Less rails. HEROES!

I have Prophecies already. Just bought Factions just to support Guild Wars (first time i've ever done that for an online rpg). Loving Nightfall : )

I thin that nightfall is good to start as also prophecies, but no factions. Factions should be #3 choice for the games first nightfall->prophecies->factions imo

image I can't imagine PvP without skills from all Chapters. If you are thinking about Alliance Battles, even Random Arena is more serious PvP aspect.

I'm a big fan of GW. I don't separate Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall. It is ONE game for me!!! That's why I won't vote. image

Nightfall's PvE is great! But how someone can enjoy the storyline
completely and talk about Relm of Torment, when he/she didn't have a
chance to meet Lich and Shiro before, and don't have an idea how they
    got there?? image

Nightfall is absolutely awesome. Able to beat missions in Cantha at Master's level with my heroes and full-henchie teams you often couldn't even beat that way with a full team of players.

Finding Factions extremely useful for quickly levelling up my Nightfall heroes on my Tyrian and Canthan characters.

All three rock for different reasons. Trouble for me is deciding on any given night which of my 18 characters and their heroes I want to play. Don't get bored nuch now, that's for sure.

Get all three. Well worth it.

I have all 3 Games ,in fact I have two collectors editions of each of all three games and 2 accounts .Yes Nightfall is by far the best . There are things in nightfall such as inside jokes that those that don't have access to the first 2 games will never understand. In my opinion everbody needs all three games but if you only have money enough for 1 of The three Stand alone Chapters them the Guild Wars Nightfall chapter is by far the MMORPG to buy it has everything but Glint and you'll need prophicies to find out who Glint is.

GUILD WARS is a life of MMO you just can't get enough of !!!

Don't pull on a Dragons tail you never know where it's been!!

Then what are you doing here in the Guild Wars forums? Get back to your loved WoW forums. There you can bash GW till the end of time.

In the end, I would probably say a tie between Nightfall and the original. NF is a really good game to start out with, and get to 20 with. The original has alot of emotional nostalgic value to me,:)

First time I saw Lions Arch. Back in 2004, in the october event. wow. Nearly cried. I remember shivering. I know.. Im overdoing but damn it. Its freakin Guild Wars:D Love this game^_^

I really like Mehtanni Keys in Nightfall.  For some reason the whole place sans mobs is very restful I could sit there and drink a corona and just stare at the big shark/fish thing swimming around.

Those places are nice, but nothing, not a single place, beats Pre-Searing. Ah the peaceful harmony. Who can remember the first time venturing north of the wall, being scared of the high leveled Charr? Or what about wandering through the forest and finding Fort Runik? I could have never thought there was a place there hidden from me :) And catacombs... that hidious place full of secrets. Nothing beats the nostalgia of Pre-Searing. But oh well, I gotta say Nightfall has it's moments too.

PvP is in a shared "Core" place.  So nightfall faction etc is only important for skills and such.  Except for special PvP places like Alliance battles in factions.

I started in prophecies, got to lions arch (level 16ish), then bought
factions and nightfall, went to nightfall, got my heroes, then went to
factions and got so hooked up with quests there (plus the 3k exp reward
realy helped getting all my heroes to 20). I love factions! but im sure
nighfall is great too... and I like prophecies too... gawd, why cant i
play 3 chapters at the same time? life is so unfair :(
