I think that they are very unfair towards people that can't be up at midnight or whatever when the contest ends to check their emails. People have other lives, not just sitting and waiting byt the computer for things to show up in the email box
To draw 1000 people for a 500 ticket game then it's a free for all to see who confirms is not only unfair it's pretty lame. They don't have 1000 people for lotto and only let 500 in.
Very unfair IMHO. give people a chance to respond not just letting the 24/7 kids that ahve no life win all the contests. whatever. YOU SUCK!!

Wasn't sure this was the right place to place a beef about the contests, but since someone already started a thread... (thread-bandwagon jumper pro here)
If you put everyone's who enters name into the contest, then that would include those who have already won. I don't think this is fair to either the people who have never won or to the games themselves. The people who are on this site probably already have a steady MMORPG already and to allow them to beta test more then one game means they probably are not putting any real effort into beta at all.
I would like to suggest that you strike the winners of recent beta tests off the list, thereby giving others a chance to seriously beta test something.
I might be a bit prejudiced as I have'nt won yet and would like to put City of Heroes through its paces.
Thanks, Drydale.
I can't agree enough with both of the previous posts. Talk about totall frustration to find out you won something only to realize because I have a job I missed out. If you have 500 beta accounts to give away, notify 500 people!!! Give everyone a couple of days to sign up and then give out the rest of the accounts to others.
Thanks, I feel better now.
I will try to address all of these concerns:
1) Contests are now 9PM EST (except CoH contest, it is the last 12AM contest). The Ryzom contest was 9PM EST and so is the RYL contest. If you can't stay up until 9PM (5PM PST) then I am sorry, but you are not in the "norm" for sleep patterns.
2) We don't agree with not allowing past winners to enter new contests...that is just not a good idea. Let's face it - we have good contests here and we have GREAT contests here. Who would enter a contest if they thought it might mean they might win and could not enter the contest of their dreams next month. You will find sites all over the Internet that do contests...almost all of them allow people to keep entering.
3) We have to issue more tickets than we have prizes, otherwise the contest selection process drags on forever. We have people with bad e-mails, people who have moved and people who just plain don't check their mail but once a week. We used to draw the exact amount and it was hell for us. The current system has been great on our end for managing these contests.
In conclusion I would like to state that the rules are no mystery...they were clearly posted when you signed up and it did not cost you a dime to be a part of it.

I will say this. I think the system works out great. My first contest was for Ryzom. My brother and I were on MSN both refreshing like mad seeing if we won, which he did win. With the contest at 9 pm EST, it gives everyone a chance. I think its a great idea. Yes the 24/7 hr kiddies have the advantage, but not much of one.
Damn, I hate being wrong. I failed to read the fine print and didn't realize you would be giving away more tickets than accounts.
Thanks for the response.
